Should I add my teen son to package or just buy ticket

Does anyone know if there is any benefit to add my son to my package versus just buying him a 10 day ticket when we get there? We booked our package, with discount code, and originally my 17 year old son did not want to go. He now wants to, and I can't decide the better route. Thanks.

Won't he have to be added to your package to get a room key and be able to use EMH? The ticket price should be the same.

Assuming you wouldn't be going over the maximum occupancy for the room, there shouldn't be any downside to adding him and the upside as ChuckS pointed out is he needs the room key to get into EMH as well as for Disney transportation.

I would definately add him now to the package, if he isn't on the package he will have no room key, thus ID to do the extras at disney.

As long as you don't exceed the lawful occupancy of the room, there will be no extra charge to have your minor son added to your reservation. The only charge will be for park tickets, but you'll be paying for those one way or another anyway.

Did you sign up for the Dining Plan? If you did, and you're trying to avoid having to pay for his dining plan, I'll echo the facts the others presented to you.

He won't be able to be named on the reservation. Which means if you are going to take Disney's Magical Express to and from the airport, he'll have to find alternate transportation separately from the family, and pay for it. He won't have a room key. He won't be able to have room charging privileges (if you wanted him to have that, anyway). He won't be able to participate in Extra Magic Hours at the theme parks and water parks.
