Should CL_'s and Returning Winners be allowed in the Ride Competition? Have your Say

I'm a winner from the Everest round. I'm not participating in this competition. (It's not because I'm trying to give someone else a chance to win, just because I can't get into vmk on my desk top since I downloaded shock wave.) I think since this is an individual event that everyone should be able to participate. Even if it was a group effort, I still think everyone should be eligible to participate.

I totally agree Nikki and I also find it very funny Dr.Kumquatt that your first post on the DIS is such an imflamatory one.

Yes, excellent observation, Mal.

This is very inflammatory. Of course everyone should get to play.

Everyone is innocent until proven guilty. With that said, I would just like to bring attention to the fact that Dr.Kumquatt has not said his/her opinion on the matter. The OP merely asked members for their opinions.

Now, I agree it was a rather inflammatory post...as it rouses emotions...but I noticed people are accusing him/her of thinking CL's and previous winners shouldn't be allowed and that really isn't the case here. Perhaps he/she does feel this way, but I think we also need to take into concideration that Dr.Kumquatt stated no opinion...only asks a question.

My answer to that question is: Community leaders should be able to take part (and I am not just saying that because I am a CL) and I think previous winners should have another go at it. The set up is a tad different, so the previous winners aren't really previous winners heh. (If you understand what I'm saying).

Dr.Kumquatt, I think you should want to post your opinions, heh.

The notion that some players should be excluded from any part of the game is a ridiculas Idea. We are all players just the same. That would be like saying guest players can't participate in the events or play games. What sense does it make. The only possible reason to exclude a player from a judged event was if they were related to a judge. We all have the same basic matierial to work with and I might say we all started with nothing but a few credits so since this is a creative process it assumed to be fair. So people just are great at room designs, some are good at collecting cool items, and on and on. Take what you've got and deal with it, that is part of life.

CL_'s no. Returning winners, no.

We all have our thing, some are good at making digital rides. ;)
Sorry but I agree.
We should have some new people out there and try. It doesn't seem fair all these people who won before are in the competition again. Ok we know they are good, let some other people have their try, this may be their only chance to win something but they don't even get a second glance because the "popular rich" VMKers take the spot light.

Well I am a CL and a former winner.

While I do understand where you are coming from about the former winners, I do not think that players should not be able to compete just because they are a CL. CL are players just like you, they just have a title.

I am probably not going to take part in this upcoming event just because I do not have the time to get the credits.

Just stating my opinion

I think it might be fair to have a category, in addition to Best use of color and best theme, of "Best New-comer" for those who haven't won before.

Hmmm... this is quite the question.
I am a CL and a previous ride 'winner'.

I think everyone should be able to enter- if they want too! (I am NOT entering this ride competition- so hold back on the immediate flames)

I also think people should be able to win best room/game/quest more than once if they have the best.

I think people should be able to win host game prizes as many times as they can.

This is a game. We are all here to play and have fun. If players want to take the time to make amazing rooms, or actually get themselves in line for the games (which I never seem able to do) then more power to them.

Good Luck Everyone!!

I dont see whats so wrong about Cls being able to join. They get no extra privelages, so whats so wrong about it?Now if it were say a host joining then that would be a whole different story.
As for previous winners, i wish they wouldnt, but that does not mean they shouldnt. There is nothing wrong with that, its not like they bribe the judge.

Why? :confused3

I don't think she wants HOSTs to join because, well... basically, they're professional VMK room builders lol :)

Thank You! Doc just asked a question that many others have either thought to themselves or shared with others. Never did he state his opinion.

Many people feel that they should not be allowed to enter again. While I don't agree with it, many do feel this way.

Personally, I think everyone should be allowed to enter a VMK contest, even if they are returning winners or CLs. Not allowing a returning winner would be like in real life saying, "oh, I'm sorry, but you won that last contest so you can't enter this one." Or, "Gee, I'm sorry, but your team won Superbowl 41 so you can't play in Superbowl 42."

In real life, the same people win award after award after award. We all need to learn that we can not all win and that there are others who are better at something than we are. If you don't like that someone is better than you, then do something about it.

If winning is your only goal, then you need to stop, reevaluate what is important, and look at the whole picture. I tell my students that it isn't just the outcome that is important, but the process of getting to that finished project that is important.

I know my rooms aren't winning rooms, but at least I had a blast winning credits to purchase stuff for the rooms, shopping, setting the room up, and watching others enoying my room as we all share a common love for VMK.

I just became a CL_ on Tuesday. I built a ride for Halloween that I am adapting for the ride competition. Those of you who say that CL_s should not be able to participate, what is different about me, or my ride, between Monday and Tuesday that makes you not want me to participate? I am no different. I took my time to build the ride before I was a CL_. I opened the rooms so folks could ride the ride before I was a CL_ and again last night as a CL_. Why should I not be allowed to participate? I've never participated before (we won't discuss the disaster of the waterslide competition, please!), never won anything, spent about 100,000 credits on my rooms and ride, and now, because I was just made a CL_ I should not participate?

For the record, the only thing that is different about my avatar since having CL_ put in front of her name is that she has a sorcerer hat badge. Somehow, that makes me unworthy in your books?

Just trying to understand the logic here, that's all.
