Never been to Florida in March. Should I pack more shorts or pants. I heard that days are more shorts weather and nights are cooler. Am I right? I am travelling with 2 young children and want to make sure I am prepared...I will be packing jackets anyway. Would I be able to wear sandals?
Thanks all...

Zip-off pants! We were there Feb. 1-7 and they were great. I found them at Walmart in the boy's department on clearance. $5-10. Both my DD's wore them.

You never know; we went a few years ago a week after you are going, and the first couple days were quite chilly -- jeans and sweatshirts all day. I think the high was in the low fifties. By the end of the week, it was well into the 70's, may have even hit 80 some afternoons, so we were in shorts and t-shirts. So be prepared for anything, and look at the forecast before you go. We like to use accuweather.com. Have fun!

I've not been in March but have friends who go and they have told me to bring both jeans and shorts, sweat shirts, jacket, long and short sleeved shirts, because it changes so quickly.

We're going to be there March 17th-23. We're staying at the Pop. Where are you staying?

March is when we like to go. You should bring both. Make sure to have sweatshirts for the evenings and early mornings. A light wind jacket for the children may be needed during the days, but then again you could spend the entire trip in shorts. We'll be down there the same time, and I say a little of everything keeps you safe. Yes, bring your sandals. It should be perfect for them during the day!!! ENJOY!!

We are from Ohio...right on Lake Erie...so we wear shorts and take a light jacket. We thought 60 degrees was warm compared to home! We went in December and that was all we needed for the kids. It was funny because the CMs kept guessing we were from "up north" because we had shorts on and the others though it was chilly! :cool1: We are going in March (25-31). Check the forcast for the time you'll be there as you get closer and then factor into what early morning and late evening activitie you have planned. We may take the zip off pants this time, but only because we have them. The kids love being able to wear shorts in March!

Over the years we've spent 30+ park days in the first week or so in March and I've never needed long pants during the day, maybe 3-4 times at night. Our Illuminations Cruise was really chilly. A light windbreaker or a regular long sleeve shirt is enough for me on the coolest evenings I've experienced there. The norm is short everything, day and night, but this is all relative. I stopped in the McD's near AllStar one evening and struck up a conversation with the gal behind the counter. She said it was too bad that I was getting cold weather for our WDW vacation. She was wearing a jacket and hat, I was comfortable in shorts. I told her that where I come from, this qualified as a heat wave.

I have to agree with this post. Coming in from Vermont 50 degrees seems like a heat wave to me. I depends on your origin. It can get chilly at night, relatively, but that is usually in early March. Late March has always seemed more consistently warm. Bring both but the heavy weight can be at a minimum.

A lot of Vermont posters on this thread! I agree, it's all relative. 65 degrees will feel warm to us, but the Floridians will be wearing parkas!

Last year, the week of of St. Patty's day, it rained all but one day of the entire week. It was chilly, but not bad. The rain is what did us in. We're going the week of the 12th this year, checking out the day you arrive. Hopefully it'll be less rainy- I'd be happy if it were 50's-60's as long as there isn't rain. Have fun!!

weather.com has the averages for March and specifically your week for highs near 80 and lows in the lower 60s. You never know when temps maybe below normal. I would go with shorts and bring a light sweater or jacket for cool weather. Kids would be a different story. Maybe pants and a sweatshirt plus a jacket.

I would take both, and if you are comfortable with the temp, you can definately wear sandals. I usually wear flip flops and sandals, even if it is a little chilly.

Weather in central FL is odd in the spring - for example, today it was BEAUTIFUL, with temps in the mid 70's. We ran errands and I wore shorts and a sweatshirt. However, tomorrow it is supposed to be in the 50's and will stay that way for a couple of days.

Another thing to think about is what you think is cold. When we went in December, it was FREEZING to me - 40's and 50's, yet there were people in the parks in shorts and t-shirts and swimming in the pool.

I hear a lot of "bring both"

Problem is ....

I promised DH I would "Pack Lighter" than I usually do!!!! Ok, so I'll have to decide to pretend to be warm, or sweat..... great!!!! :rotfl2:

seeing how its about 30 right now and snowing, I think I'll fake warm!!!! :thumbsup2

I've learned that even in August, jeans are never the wrong choice. Then again, I am immune to extreme heat. I won't wear shorts at all in the parks. Not since I sat in something sticky!

Briarprincess, after all that rain last year, I'm sending you pixiedust in hopes that you'll get better weather this year. pixiedust: (And I promise it's not just because I'm going the same week you are!) ;)
