Hi, I was looking at EBAY to see som eof the things available for Disney's 50th anniversary and someone mentioned that Mickey's golden ears are hard to find. In fact that the park usually runs out early in the morning. Does anyone know if this is actually true, or they're just trying to sell? Everyone is asking me to bring them back the golden ears!!
Thanks so much...Liza :wave2:

Yes, when were there last week, they had run out of ADULT and YOUTH size ears in I believe all colors but I know the golden ones for sure. There were plenty of Infant sizes available in all colors, including the gold, which is what everyone was buying regardless of age/size and they seemed to work fine. They also ran out of Minnie bows for the ears when were purchasing my daughter's and we were told there was only one store that had any left so we went there and we were told to come back in half an hour when they expected to get more....went back and still no bows, but finally ended up getting one late that night at the Mad Hatter at the front of the park.

It is hard for me to understand how they can run out of something like that. Didn't they anticipate that everyone was going to want some, and since they have 18 months to sell them, why they couldn't have ordered enough to keep from running out after less than 2 weeks? That kind of thing just drives me crazy.

I believe they were about $11-$12 - double the cost of the coloured ones!!!! We opted out of buying them!

There's another recent thread about the gold ears too, but they were $10.50 plus tax last week. And, another $1.00 if you want to add the bow. My daughter opted for the pink minnie ears instead which I think were just like $7.00. The gold ears that we saw all had a sticker mark on the font of the ear where it looks like they maybe first put the price tag and then switched them to the back....that wouldn't have phased her but it seemed kind of strange. I believe they cost more because of the nicer 50th logo on the front. However, my daughter still chose to go with the other pink ears which we had to get in the infant size too. I was amazed that they were out of all adult and youth ears....c'mon it's Disneyland where they should be overflowing with ears! :earboy2: But really, it wasn't that big of a deal that we had to get the other size and my brother-in-law was able to get some earlier in the week so they do have them at times. Hopefully it's just a temporary shortage issue!

i was there on may 5th, it was madness getting a set of those ears, the only place that gad any when we were looking was the briar oatch and they sold out right after we got ours. they did not expect that much, one of the workers told me as much.

Here's a tip - if you are having trouble getting ears at DL try over at DCA. They had plenty and no mobs trying to buy 'em. :)
We got ours at the hat place near the Golden Zephyr ride - there was no line and lots of selection there. :earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsgirl:

I got the ears when they first came out, and the tag was on the back of the ear, which I really didn't like because the ears are translucent. The patch on the front is embroidered, which is nicer than the ones on the regular ears, but it is also glued on, not sewn on.

Still, I enjoy looking at it on my desk. :)

I was there last week so maybe I have a little more current information...
We bought my son the infant size black ears on Tuesday morning the 10th at the Mad Hatter in Fantasyland. They had all sizes and colors at that time - we just are nostalgic and prefer the black.

We stood in line for a long time because she was completing orders for people who had called Disneyland to order their ears. I was surprised that they do that! It could explain why they are having a shortage, perhaps?

By Friday (when we went in to get my husband's sun hat embroidered) I overheard the CM tell a customer that they were out of the golden ears but expected more to come in the next week (being now). So... I don't know if they actually got more in, but that's what that CM said.

<- also loves the look of them

I actually have 2 pair one I bought off ebay and the ones I got at the park May 5th (with my name)

My only biff with them is that they look really abused afterwhile- I had my pair in my backpack for part of the 5th and all of the 6th (got it embrodired) and they look a bit ratty (compared to my 50th map that completely survived so I know it wasnt over wear in the backpack) so I'm glad I have the 2 pair...

Thanks for the tip! I was wondering if the 50th anniversary merchandise was available at DCA. Do they embroider ears there too?

We'll be hitting DCA first on Saturday and saving DL for my birthday on Sunday so maybe we should shop first. ;)

This is probably a ? that has been answered before but how could I order the golden ears by phone? My kids would be heartbroken if they were out by the time we go. Thanks for your help.

Most of the stuff we have bought from Disney is pretty good quality - except the ears. They seem to do best if they sit on the shelf. I had ones from the 25th but my daughter :earsgirl: conficated them and the plastic ear broke  so they went into the garbage. This is why I probable will not buy them this time. I would like something from the 50th that will last til the 75th. Wish they would make them able to stand up to a little more "love".
