Short intervals while doing Galloway

I just wanted to update how my half went doing short (super short) intervals.

We ran :45/:30 (yes, 45 seconds......) and finished in 2:45:38. We finished really, really strong and probably could have pushed ourselves harder in the first half of the race. I really enjoyed the shorter intervals and was surprised how "uncrowded" it felt most of the race (I was concerned that we would be in the way, but it worked really well).

My fear of when my Garmin would run out of laps came true on the 10 mile run on the week before (just shy of 10 miles). So for the half, at mile 9, I just reset it to get us the rest of the way through.

:worship::worship:to Jeff Galloway for mentioning the shorter intervals after last years race, really my pace was almost the same as previous years when I did 2/1's.

I tried out the Runkeeper Pro (the new and greatly improved version) for the 30 second intervals and didn't have any issues. It wasn't going to stop doing intervals until the phone battery died! It is amazing how short intervals make such a big difference but there is something to be said with never really being exhausted and out of breath. Great job with your half!! :)

Congratulation on your success using short intervals. I tried :30/:30 once and didn't really like it. Prior to that though I had been doing 1:15 R/2:15 W. So that might have been part of the problem. I maybe should have tried :30 R/45 W. I'm currently doing 1:30/1:30 regularly so it may be time to try a short interval again. I think there is some valitidty to the shorter run cycles for alot of people. I'm also training at about a 3:00r/2:00 w and my running is significantly slower for the longer period so I wouldn't race it but it make for a good workout.
