Okay guys, my husband has gotten this wild hair (:dogdance:) and saw on the crowd calendar that NEXT WEEK is labeled “ghost town” so as you can imagine; he has decided that shall be when we go... Feb 25-Mar 1.

We are thinking 3 park days; with hoppers and MP’s. I’m worried though, as I’m a long trip, every minute organized, type of person, but we now have a 2 year old that is 3000x’s more difficult (lovely and perfect of course ) than our two older kids. So we are thinking for our sanity we might do best with 3 days not 5.. but...

I’ve only ever been to DL in July; and never considered going when it’s not HOT; so I’m worried about shorter hours, cool weather and less things open..

Tell me about Disney with short hours and no sunshine. popcorn:::woohoo:

If you DONT suggest the above time frame; why... and when should we go; given the information above. Hubs is keen on ASAP. Lol

That being said, Space Mountain is down starting Monday, February 25 for the week. I don't believe there are any fireworks. The castle is being refurbished, etc.

We are there as well this week and that's one reason we chose this week. I'm not sure Disney is ever a "ghost town" but hopefully it is better than a total zoo.

EXACTLY! Ghost town is soooo relative. Haha! But I think I’ve probably been on “red” days previously.

I don’t mind too much about space mountain, but the castle is literally killing me. :guilty: I just don’t think I can convince my husband to wait until late May when he’s ready to leave Monday. LOL! The new Mickey show is replacing fireworks for the time being? Is that correct?

All depends on what you mean by ghost town - because my understanding is that does not happen unless it's very cool or pouring rain. Crowd calendars are notorious for underestimating crowds according to many on this forum.

We just got back and had several cool and rainy days and we got a LOT done - but it was pretty cool and we are Canadians that came from -25 and lots of snow - so it's all based on what you are used to. You have to be dressed for it or you might be miserable especially the rain but the forecast looks pretty good for next week though unless you consider high 60s and low 70s cold?

Hey, why not? I say go for it! Try not to worry about the planning, etc. You'll have a great time no mater what, even if it is more crowded than "Ghost Town."

I think the new Mickey show will be there for awhile. only on a few nights ( weekends when weather permits) it will there be fireworks. I think this is the future of "fireworks" shows. This way they can still put on a show if the weather won't allow.

While the castle is down, there are some neat photo opportunities with the scrims - getting a picture of the partners statue with the scrim as background is pretty neat, and on the back side, getting a pic at sword in the stone with Maleficent as the backdrop would be cool too!

Hope you all have a great time!

We always tell friends to prepare mentally and emotionally for crowds -- that way, if it isn't as crowded as you expected, great! And if, by some chance, it is -- at least you were prepared! Whatever you do, don't set your mind on "ghost town" -- kiss of death! As noted above, everyone defines that differently, and when there are even a few more guests than you expected or you end up waiting just a few more minutes than you thought you would have to, you'll be disappointed and frustrated. But... if you were expecting it to be more crowded and it turned out to be less? Who doesn't like that?
And... any trip to DLR is always worth it! (But you knew I would say that, right?)

We were there Feb 2 - 9. We had 5 park days and it rained for the first half of our trip. It made for super light crowds on the rainy days, and we got a ton done. We planned most of our park days for during the week, hoping for the crowds to be less anyway. As it happened with our last trip, as soon as the sun came out and there was less likelihood of a downpour, the crowds definitely picked up. We hit the parks early, which with 9am opening most days wasn't that early, and took a break part way through the day (it was myself, DH, DS(almost 7) and DD (almost 4). MaxPass was awesome with the lower crowd levels. We were able to get many FPs that were available almost immediately after we got them, which was a bit of a pain at times when I was trying to stack them for the evening when we were having our afternoon break. There will be fireworks (weather permitting) on the Friday that you are there (March 1), but if it's windy or rainy they will cancel them.
