I know you're here because you are so excited about my five food pictures! My DH and I took a quick trip in May to celebrate my birthday and we left the kids at home. It was wonderful! We have never gone anywhere alone together without them and it was worth every penny. We flew to Orlando from Kansas City, and after jumping on the Magical Express we got to POP around 3:30. We got an awesome room and headed to the food court because we were starving! I had big plans to head to DTD to visit my friend The Earl of Sandwich, but we couldn't have made it. Too hungry.

Oh, by the way, we were on the QSDP for our weekend and we LOVED it. I have come to the point in my Disney vacations that I want to eat when I want to eat and I don't want to be tied down to ADR's. (That being said, when we go back next month with the kids we are on the DDP!)

Billy got a bacon cheeseburger, fries and a carrot cake. I got the Greek salad, tie-dye cheesecake and a giant Coke. (I love Coke and I don't drink it very much at home.) The bacon cheese burger was good and it hit the spot. But the Greek salad was WONDERFUL! I would suggest this to anyone.

Best Greek salad ever!

I have always wanted to try the tie-dye cheesecake. I have to say, I was disappointed. It didn't taste like anything and it didn't have that good cheesecake texture. Oh well, at least I can say that I tried it!

We headed to Hollywood studios for the night and I found my new husband:

Isn't he handsome?

The next day was my actual birthday and we started off at the MK by having my favorite breakfast at the Main Street Bakery: the ham, egg and cheese croissant and we mixed it up a little adding a blueberry muffin. This is a picture of the rapture that this blueberry muffin induced. It was very good and the croissant was excellent as ever.

After riding BTMR, we headed to the Animal Kingdom for Everest and Dinosaur. After the rides we were hungry again and ready for lunch. We had never eaten at the Flame Tree so we decided to go for it. We both got the rib platters, giant cokes and desserts. I also added a order of onion rings.

Birthday Ribs!

The ribs were good but very greasy. It was a super hot day and a giant plate of ribs might not be your best option when you are sweating, but oh well. The cole slaw was gross and I don't eat baked beans. My Dh said they were, "ok". The onion rings were really good but it was SO hot outside that they just didn't sit well on our stomachs. There were ducks everywhere and they were getting pretty aggressive. One kind of pecked at my leg and wanted some of my ribs. Gross! Why a bird would eat ribs is beyond me, but there's no accounting for taste. This would have been a wonderful meal if it was about 20 degrees cooler outside. You know how it gets at Disney when you are so very hot and nothing will help except for a pool and a nap? I was at that point so we headed back to POP.

Coming up: no more pictures (unless I can get them off my husband's phone) but a couple more reviews.
Thanks for reading!!!

I like all five pics, but especially the muffin-induced rapture! Thanks for taking the time to write a review.

I found 5 more pictures on my husband's phone! I should change the title of this dining report but oh well. Here is a picture of the wonderful blueberry muffin:

So when I last left us we were heading back to the resort. When we got there I decided I wanted some ice cream and on your birthday, when you want ice cream, you get it. I got a three scoop ice cream sundae with hot fudge and extra whipped cream. All of this is a snack credit if you can believe it! You can also add nuts and cherries but I don't care for that. Here's my awesome birthday ice cream:
photo-1.jpg

The young guy who made this for me was so nice and funny. We had an excellent break eating ice cream and drinking blue Powerade out of our refillable mugs. After we are out in the heat all day, we drink lots of Powerade. It's kind of another little Disney tradition that we never do at home. When I get a little homesick for WDW all I have to do is buy some blue Powerade and I'm better. For a few minutes.

So we had a nap and I was ready to go for my birthday night. Months ago I got an ADR for Kona. We like to eat here. After our wedding in 2005 we ate our first meal here as a married couple, so it's kind of special to us. Well, being the fickle woman that I am, I just wasn't feeling Kona. So I went to the concierge desk and asked what places could take us in the World Showcase. I didn't have high hopes because it was a Saturday night in May but they were able to fit us into lots of places! I chose Chefs De France because I liked some of the reviews I had been reading.

We headed to Epcot and made out way to the World Showcase. It was still very HOT but nothing was going to get us down. It was my birthday and I was at Disney World! We checked in and were taken to our table very quickly. The restaurant was really packed and loud but it did feel like a cafe in Paris. We were so close to the table next to us that I felt weird taking pictures. I'm sorry!

I ordered the Salade Au Bleu - romaine hearts, blue cheese dressing, bacon, walnuts, croutons $7.25 without the walnuts and the A la Flame Alsacienne - Alsace specialty. Flatbread baked with creme fraiche, onion and bacon $9.95. DH ordered the Soupe a l'oignon Gratinee - the classic onion soup topped with Gruyere cheese $6.50 and the Tomate et fromage de chevre - Tomato and goat cheese $10.75.
(I took these off of allears)

First of all, let me say that everything was so delicious. I mean everything. The flatbreads were insane! Both of them were so good we couldn't decide which one was better. Such a treat!

Now for the not so good. We had absolutely horrible service. Drinks were not refilled, and after we finally found our waiter and asked to get refilled he didn't come back for 15 minutes. I was so disappointed because this really could have been a perfect meal. We just wanted to get our check and go, but he wouldn't even bring the check! Not exactly what you want on the your birthday, but the food was awesome. I would recommend the food, but not the service. Ironically, I had much better service in the actual Paris than in the fake Epcot Paris. :lmao:

More coming up! Three more pictures!
Thanks for reading.

Joining your pictures and review. We love Chefs De France but we had the opposite waiter from you...our waiter was at our table ever 5 mins (my husband made a comment to him when we first sat down that we went to the town he lived in France...he was so shock we went to the small village at South of France. I guess he was home sick and wanted to chat with us. It was great though). We had an amazing meal and good service (he keep bringing us fresh rolls...he realized my son loved it so he keep bringing it for him. Our drinks was always refilled and brought us a complimentary dessert).
I'm crossing my fingers that the meal will be good when we go in December. I love onion soup.

Great reviews so far. We have to choose between dinner at Chefs and Tutto Italia for our upcoming trip. So far Tutto is in the lead.

*One note: my DH and I always get two things and spilt them so we can taste two different things and not get "food envy". I'm one of those people who is always jealous of what other people order...this helps!*

We woke up bright and early on our last day even though I had the intention of sleeping in. Why can't you sleep late when you finally have a chance to? It makes no sense. Anyway, we went to the food court at POP and had a BIG breakfast. I ordered the Ham and cheese omelet and and cheese danish and DH got a Denver omelet and something sweet, maybe a chocolate muffin???

Breakfast was wonderful! We were just so happy to be on vacation. This is when I started to notice something though. Since I wasn't distracted by my two babies, I was able to people watch. Not very many people look happy at WDW! Everyone is mad or crying or exasperated or just exhausted! (Maybe this is just at POP?) So many people were screaming at their kids. Disney World is so much harder with kids!

Anyway, on to Epcot and rope drop. I have never made the run to Soarin' and it was an experience. We had an awesome morning. After being in the hot sun for a few hours we started to get hungry but I didn't feel like anything at Epcot (Crazy! There are so many choices and nothing sounded good.) So, we hopped on the monorail and headed to the Poly to eat at Captain Cook's. I wanted to try out the touch screens!

I got the Stir-fried noodles and a chocolate croissant twist thing. Don't forget the giant Coke!
photo-2.jpg

This was VERY good. Lots of veggies and yummy sauce. My dessert was OK.

Dh got a BBQ pulled pork flatbread. We inhaled this! So good. He also had his first Dole Whip and he loved it.
photo-3.jpg

I'm glad that we tried it. The only issue I had with Captain Cook's is that no one was wearing any clothes! They were all in bathing suits walking in and out from the pool. I normally wouldn't have a problem with that, but come on ladies, put a cover-up on.

We went back to POP and swam and had a nap and then headed to DTD. We were planning on going to Earl of Sandwich, but then we looked at the Wolfgang Puck Express menu and went in there. We ordered a Turkey Sandwich that came with sweet potato fries and the Chicken Alfredo rigatoni. ( The menu isn't updated on allears so I can't tell you the exact names.) The sandwich was super yummy and I actually liked the fries even though I'm not a sweet potato fan. The pasta dish had peas, bacon and chicken in it. It was good but the pasta was just a tad overcooked. For dessert we had these wonderful things:

You probably won't believe this, but I have never had a creme brulee before! I was very impressed and I can't wait to go back in July for another one. I loved it!

And that's the end of our journey. We had to go home the next morning. :sad1: We will be back in July with the kiddos and hopefully I will be able to take more pictures! Thanks for reading.

Thank you! Now that I'm looking closely at the picture I think that might be the croissant but let's just pretend my face looked like this the whole time I was eating! :goodvibes

I wish we would have had your waiter! The onion soup was delicious...I hope I can convince DH to give it another try sometime.

We really did! It was so easy getting around without the stroller and constant potty breaks but we missed the kids. I can't wait to get back there with them!

Can you tell me EXACTLY where to find your husband? When we first took the girls to the World in 2000, we stumbled across him and totally caught us by surprise! But didn't find it when we went back in 2005.
