Short and sweet with lots to eat! Updated 9/23 Finished!

Next I picked the Alaskan King Salmon with Charred Lettuce and Cauliflower

DH had the Wild Turbot with Toasted Capers and Preserved Lemon. This dish was an up charge.

Both dishes were absolutely delicious! But the wild turbot- you could have drank that sauce it was in and it was worth the up charge.

Next I had the Palmetto Farms Quail with Asian Pears, Serrano Ham Jus

And DH got the Berkshire Pork with Mustard Spaetzle

Hi! Thanks for joining! I wasn't sure if anyone was following along!

If you eat it, they will come.

I have no idea what pintade is but if looks delish. And that salmon. It looks so fresh I thought it was a carrot at first. Keep the updates coming....

Thank you for posting:worship: I am in the beginning stages of planning a trip for DH and I because we will be empty nesters soon and The Wild Africa Trek is on my short list.

I'm pretty sure our server said it was pheasant. And the salmon was cooked so perfectly it was the best salmon I've ever had!

We enjoyed the trek so much that we've already decided to do it again on our next trip with the kids. It really was an awesome experience!

Next course I had the Marcho Farms Veal with Peas, Carrots and Chanterelles

DH chose another up charge item- Australian Kobe Style Beef Tenderloin with Oxtail Ravioli

Absolutely delicious! I never though peas could taste so good!

I chose the cheese plate. Flagship Reserve, Comte St. Antoine, Wyngaard Chevre Affine, Colston Bassett Stilton

DH chose the Roasted White Chocolate Gelato with Candied Fig

Our last course of the night, I chose the Caramelized Banana Gateau

And DH chose the Tanzanian Chocolate Timbale with Orange Scented Milk Chocolate Gelato

This whole dining experience was out of this world. Everything they brought us was absolutely delicious and sometime we weren't even sure what we were eating! I am so glad we got to finally dine here and I can not wait to return! I also wanted to add that I did the wine pairing and while it was fun I don't think I could do it again. It was a lot of wine and I did feel it by the end of the dinner. ;)

The next morning we decided to go to Kouzzina again.

I ordered the
Country French Toast
Grilled Fig and Anise Bread with Apple-Fig Compote with choice of Bacon or Chicken Sausage

This was so good! I don't usually eat very sweet things and this was very sweet. But wow it was amazing!

Dh ordered the
Classic Golden Waffle
with Whipped Mascarpone Cheese, Honey, and Chopped Pecans and choice of Bacon or Chicken Sausage

He loved it!
We are so glad we got to experience eating here and are truly saddened that this was our first(and second;)) and last time.

For our lunch today we decide we wanted Mexican. On our last two trips we ate at La Hacienda for dinner. The first time was great but the second was just ok. So we decided to try SAI as it had been a long time since we had been here.

We split both items. First up was
Tostadas de Tinga
Pulled chicken seasoned with roasted tomato and chipotle, served on tostadas with black refried beans, green tomatillo sauce, queso fresco and sour cream

Yum!!! So good. Next we got the

Tacos de Carne
Grilled New York strip on flour tortillas, topped with chipotle pepper sauce, scallions and avocado. Served with rice and beans.

These were really good too. We originally wanted to get the Tlacoyos de ChilorioCorn cakes topped with black refried beans, pork chilorio, queso fresco, sour cream, and green tomatillo sauce but our waitress talked us into getting the tacos. We both felt like it was a little too much food for us and next time we'll stick to the two appetizers. And this restaurant is so nice to eat at with such a great atmosphere.

Dinner was at Jiko. I was really excited to try this restaurant. We went a little overboard and ordered three appetizers, two entrees and split a dessert! I wish I could tell you we couldn't finish everything but......:rolleyes1

First up is the appetizers

Roxanne's Kitfo Leb Leb
Beef Carpaccio, Feta Cheese, Pistachio-Basil Pesto, Berbere, Tomatoes, and Rocket

Grilled Wild Boar Tenderloin
Mealie Pap, Chakalaka, White Truffle Oil, and Micro Cilantro

Crispy Duck "Bobotie" Roll
Cucumber Raita and Green Mango Atjar

All of these were fantastic! Our server asked us if we wanted him to box anything up but since there was nothing on the plates ;). He was awesome!

For our entrees we both ordered the

Oak-grilled Filet Mignon
Grass-fed Beef, Local Organic Pole Beans, Spoon Bread, and South African Red Wine Sauce

We both subbed the mac and cheese. Best steak and mac and cheese ever! We were so full but decided to indulge a little more. We usually don't order desserts at all but before we left for the trip we said we were going to order one every dinner and we sure did. So for our dessert we shared

Ghanaian Chocolate and Kenyan Coffee Pot de Crème
Almond Crème with Almond Crunch and Raspberries

Excellent! We rolled ourselves back to our room! Jiko is a must do on our next trip.

Oh my! Your Jiko dinner looks delicious. I think they have some of the best appetizers (esp the flatbreads) and entrees. Where I never seem to have any luck is with their desserts. But your chocolate dessert looks like a winner.

Great update:thumbsup2

Thank you!

I know, right! I knew before we left for our trip we were going to have a hard time choosing from the appetizers. All of them sounded so good. The flatbread was amazing! Loved the bobotie and boar as well. The dessert was very good. We don't usually order dessert but wanted to splurge on this vacation and DH is a chocoholic so this is what appealed to us the most.

The presentation on all of these is amazing, looks like such a great adult only trip, love it! :)

We just ate at Jiko last night and I was so close to ordering the filet. Yours looks so good. Didn't partake an any apps, but they look awesome. Jiko is definitely first rate.

Your reviews are awesome! I didn't know Kouzzina was closing soon. We will have to put that one on our list soon!
