shopping -knockoff handbags

Isn't there a difference between fake and counterfeit. A fake is sold with the knowledge that it is not the real thing but looks similar. A counterfeit is idential down to the trademark name on it.
Starwood,

I think you are correct. There is a difference between fake (close, but not quite) and coounterfeit (trying to pass off something as the real thing).

The OP didn't ask where she could buy counterfeit items, she asked about knock offs (i.e. known and advertised to be "like" the originals).

$400? WHERE?!? MY LV's run me $2,500 and UP!! :confused3 I do have some D&B's, Kate Spades and others which are $400! LOL. But even my Burberry's begin at $1000!? :goodvibes For fun...visit the website and peruse the bags *(UMA looks GREAT with the new summer denim bag. I bought this one in SF last month, cute and FUN!--I was on a "waitlist" for it!). http://www.vuitton.com/

I just disembarked the West Coast Cruise, and saw LOADS of faux bags at every port. Most were generic LV type bags in the monogram canvas or mulitcore. ALSO...the codes and rules governing these fakes are so defined, it's easy to pass with a simple "purposeful" flaw. IE...the bags I looked at in the Port of Mazatlan, had the NAME MISPELLED on the buttons and zippers! IT READ "LUIS VUITON" instead of the AUTHENTIC "LOUIS VUITTON" making them LEGAL for RETAIL SALE! Also, they had tags which act as "disclaimers" stating they are NOT authentic designer bags (as if anyone believes they are!!?).

I do not care if anyone purchases or carries a faux bag...("knock yourself off...or out, etc!!"). I buy originals for myself, as I personally enjoy investing in a bag which will last forever. :cloud9: I can always tell a fake from a real bag, even from a distance. There is simply no comparison. It takes more than 6~months to make ONE Louis. But, as someone wrote...not everyone can afford the real things. If the fakes are acceptable replacements, it's their choice. I'm still saving for a piece of luggage...(hard case trunk with wheels, straps, etc).
I do own a couple, and recently brought the Cruiser on the MAGIC...http://www.eluxury.com/browse/product_detail.jhtml?styleid=10503568&SectionID=6000 (Which I LOVE!). Hope you find the bags!

You can very easily purchase an LV bag for way under $2500, I don't know where you shop. I've got the new spring catalog in my hand and a lot of the prices are less than this. You can get the pouchette one in white for $495. Actually a good portion of their bags cost less than this. And Burburry purses also start a lot less than $1000, you can get a smaller one for about $350.

I may own these designer purses but I certainly won't flaunt the price as it's probably highly offense to some posters who can't afford them. One of the reasons that people buy knock-offs (though I don't agree with the practice) is because they can't afford the real thing or they think it's a waste to spend the silly amount of money that they cost. Even though I am lucky enough to have the real thing, I can tell you that it is a silly amount to spend!

In one of the port shops in Mazatlan, I saw the funniest looking bag. It had a LV background with smiling cherries all over it. Kind of :earseek: :earseek: :earseek:

I asked my DD if LV actually made a bag with smiling cherries. She went into a typical 20 year old rant "EWW!! Those are so ugly!! No way."

Please accept my apologies if I offended anyone who bought a smiling cherry bag. It frightened me. :scared1:

LOL. I don't know if the cherries smile on it (probably not), but they do have a line of bags with cherries in the background. I guess some folks are into cherries on their handbags. :teeth:

How many purses/bags does on person really need anyway? I bought the LV Cruiser bag a month or so ago. The real thing, but I didn't pay $1300 for it. Got a better price. Still don't feel the need to come on here and blab all about it though. Who would care, anyway?
Why people feel the need to discuss every nickel they have ever spent is a bit much.
I do hope that you at least use AMEX and not be running up all the other brands of plastic that will soon have you over your head in debt.

I have now had my black AMEX card for 2 years now, but I don't feel the need to tell the world about it. (just y'all) :cool1:

Thank you all so much.. I have learn quite a bit about bags... I know some bags were expensive but I did not know how much counterfeit and imitations are out there.

Wow

Liz

ChristmasElf...if you don't feel the need to tell the world that you have a black AE card, why even mention it??? :confused3

My point was supposed to be that it doesn't matter how much things cost or don't cost. There is no need to discuss the price of anything, except if you find a great bargain somewhere and want to share the info with everyone. (Like Target has Diet Coke on sale for $2 this week-something like that)

I guess I just don't understand the point. :confused3

OOOOKAAAY, this is continuing to go in a bad direction.

The OP asked about where to find knock-offs, let's please stick to the topic. :flower:

Thank you!

Hello....we are going on the 7-day western dcl, and i was wondering which port is the best port to buy (imitation) handbags?
thanks

We've done 2 of the western cruises and I've never seen the knock off handbags, sorry. I've seen them on the eastern stops but for some reason not the western.

Anyways............ Back to the Topic on Hand.

I know on the Wonder, while shopping in Nassau we went to the Straw
Market and found TONS of them!!!!
WE just bought a couple for fun. One for my mom and one for me.
I wish now that I had bought one of the Kate Spade one's, because
they had the coolest colors for summer.
I'm not into purses so much and definately would never pay over $100
for a purse, so this was just some fun shopping for us !!
It was interesting to see all the different designs, they really just had
LV and Kate Spade that I noticed.
And LOTS of people selling everything else having to do with "tourist"
T-shirts, jewelry, beach blanckets, straw princess purses for the kids,
braiding, etc.
Have fun, and try not to spend too much, we had to budget ourselves
we were having too much fun !!!

I have seen them on the Eastern at both St. Maarten and St. Thomas, but did not see any while in Grand Cayman this past January.

Careful when buying knockoffs. You may spend up to $100 for a bag that is not made well. That's actually more expensive than paying $225 for the real thing that you can have for years or sell on eBay.

Buyer beware.

It depends on what bag you're trying to get though, most of the high end ones are more than $225!
