Hi,

I wasn't sure if I posted this in the right category, but because I saw a couple of threads where shopping was involved, I thought I should post it here just in case this is the place where I should've posted it in the first place.

I was just wondering - going to Disney World in May - about shopping. I know a lot of the stores carry the same merchandise, and I also am aware of the whole 'if you see it and like it, buy it because you may never see it again', but I was more curious about the price difference between shopping in Downtown Disney versus Parks/Resorts. I ask because the day I fly in I plan to go hit Downtown Disney that day and cover as much shopping as possible for the week, especially for my son, who will be celebrating his birthday that week, but I have heard that some people found the prices the same while others found the prices in Downtown Disney to be more for the same merchandise while some say less. What has been your experience?

Thanks!

I have found the prices to be the same across all of WDW property.

I also agree the prices are the same throughout the parks/resorts. Pack light so you don't get overage charges on your returning bag. lol.

We just returned with 2 extra bags packed with goodies. We drive, so we have plenty of room. The gift shop has 2 promos going on right now. Spend 40 and buy a mickey back pack for 19.99. I saw many people with those. The other bag is a tote bag, spend 25.00 and buy for 16.99. I now own both. hehe

Happy Shopping.

Haha! Nice!! Yeah, fortunately my son who's going to be three gets to get a bag on the flight. We plan to check one thats practically empty. He also gets a carry on that we'll be able to use and two carry-on for adults (we have ones that the laptop has its own compartment, and on the way back I dont need to pack things like my dslr battery pack and things lol)! And we made a stop at dollar tree for all the things like shampoos /!: stuff, which we plan to leave behind and make more space. Lol! can't wait!!

Btw since you just got back and shopped, maybe you could tell me. We'll be there for the 24-hour event and would love to do the dress up thing, but I know my mom (grandma) won't do a full costume. I did see an old post online about them selling costume t-shirts at the Disney stores, like Minnie and things. Are those still around? Thanks! :)

Same here.

That's what I found as well. Prices don't really vary much. Actually, not at all. T-shirt prices are t-shirt prices. Stuffies prices are stuffie prices.

There are a few places that, IMO, have more unique merchandise. For instance, IMO, the World of Disney store at DTD has more accessories available. I think the Christmas store has more ornament variety as well. There's a Villians store at dhs that has some things I didn't see other places. Plus, the unique country stores in EPCOT.

If you're staying at a resort, OP, you can just have it sent back to your room which is what we did.

Thanks! Yeah, we're staying on property, so we'll definitely be taking advantage of that! Thanks :) first day we'll be a DTD, so we'll def check out the world of disney :)

Are the prices different or the same online as they are at WDW? I want to buy a sweater online, but was wondering if it is cheaper or more expensive buying it there?

Same, but buying online means paying for shipping. However, they do sometimes have free shipping promotions or sales on the merchandise itself.
