We want to get some little something from each World Showcase country on our December trip. Then, we are going to put them all together in a little bag for Christmas gifts - sort of a "Gifts From Around The World" theme. So, what are your best small and relatively inexpensive reccomendations from each country? We want something fun and unique. Candy and food items are welcome suggestions, along with anything else you can think of of. :teeth:

I only have a suggestion for Japan... the little Lucky Cats. I think the small ones are under $4 each. They are so cute and each color stands for something! This trip we are getting the red and silver ones, we already have the gold, black and white ones. They are small enough that with a little glue, they sit upon the molding above our front door.

I don't know if you're into pin collecting. But I like to get a new pin from the WS everytime we visit. Italy has great chocolates. China has a great store, this past trip we picked up these cute little change purses for all the girls in the family as stocking stuffers. They were about $4 each and came in many pretty patterns/colors. Norway has the trolls, but I'm not sure how much they cost. Have a great trip!

I can give you a suggestion for the Germany pavillion. They have great Christmas ornaments from Germany, that are reasonable. I don't know about the other Countries, because that's where all my money goes, when I'm at WDW. :p

I love the waffletten cookies from Germany. I got addicted to them when I lived there so I have to get my fix every time I go to WS. They come in a good sized bag and they're (relatively) inexpensive --under $5.

They have cute marraccas (sp?) in Mexico. Each one is, I think only $5 or so.

Diana :earsgirl:

Tea in the United Kingdom, a minature Eiffel Tower from France, chocolates from Italy.

You can get a small flag from each country. They were $1.50 each and came with a stand.

Okay, I realize this is a strange collection but....my dd, 27 has a collection of shot glasses. Do any of you remember if they have these in any of the countries? I can't remember.

Not a strange question at all. In fact, when we were there recently, I told my wife I wanted to start collecting the Disney shot glasses. They have so many different ones available now and some of them are pretty neat.

I'm sure at least some of the countries have shot glasses. I'm not positive if they all do.

I did this a couple of years ago, although it was just for my own souveniers! My collection is sitting on a shelf in my dining room (Christmas ornements and all). Here's what I got:

Mexico - Small wooden painted cat, the most expensive thing I got. it was $18, but was hand painted by the artist who was there, and I loved it.

Norway - Small straw angel christmas ornament.

China - Lucky cat figurine on a pilllow.

Germany - Pickle Christmas ornament

Italy - Small glass piece of candy (the least expensive item I bought)

USA - I skipped here. I live here, and they didn't have anything small and cute that I wanted.

Japan - Small wooden lucky cat figurine.

Morocco - Small wooden hand carved box

France - Small candy tin with beautiful picture on it

UK - China tea bag holder

Canada - Small totem pole

I had a lot of fun doing this, and could easily find enough different things to buy to do it many times over. You can also do this at many different price ranges from the $5 range on up. Have fun!!

In China they have little purses, 2 purses inside of a larger one. They have smaller trolls in Norway, < $20.

I always buy one of the flat fans in Japan. They have pictures of Geishas on them. They are under $4. I probably have 8 different ones. Everytime I go, I also buy a piece of the wooden bowls from Morrocco for my DS. They have bowls, pencil cups and so on. The wood is aromatic. Most pieces are under $15.

Does anyone know if all the countries have Christmas ornaments available for purchase during December?

The last time that I was in WDW, they were referred to as toothpick holders. And yes, as far as I can recall they do have them in all of the countries.

McKelly, some countries have Christmas ornaments year round. If they don't, use your imagination. We picked up a little sombrero from Mexico and a keychain from Japan that we hang on the tree. :D
