Hi,
Sorry for this vaguely related Disneyland question, but was wondering
if the shoppers out there can point out the best shopping areas around
Anaheim. From memory SOuth Coast Plaza is pretty good, but other
than that cannot recall where else there was.

Any info appreciated.

Cheers.

The Block at Orange is fun, though I can't say I ever actually buy much there (except at Hilo Hattie's) - it's just a few minutes from DLR. South Coast Plaza and the Crystal Court are still the best. Also, Brea Mall is pretty good, as it Cerritos Mall. Brea and Cerritos are pretty standard malls, so you may not be all that thrilled by them. The Block is the hip place - outdoor, with lots of restaurants and a huge AMC theatre and fun places (huge throngs of teenagers on weekend nights, though). South Coast/Crystal Court are higher-end with a kazillion stores.

There was a target a few minutes drive away which we found worth it for cheap clothes (we stocked up big on kids stuff in particular)

But South Coast Plaza was the highlight - about 20 minutes away with a huge range of shops and a Rainforest cafe or an entertaining meal afterwards.

There's also the Irvine Spectrum located about 15 minutes south on I5. It's another outdoor mall with lots of shops, restaurants and a few clubs. They also have an Edwards mega-theater complex along with an IMAX theater.

There's also Fashion Island in Newport Beach. Tends to be higher end. South Coast Plaza has a mix from Tiffany's to Sears. The Block of Orange is geared more for the young. If you take a look at any of the aforementioned websites, you'll get an idea which might be more to your taste.

Wasn't there a Planet Hollywood right by the South Coast Plaza about ten years ago? I remember it was pretty new then, and I'm thinking that's where the location was. Just trying to piece together my old memories of the area.
Also, if I recall, there was a great Mexican restaurant about a mile or so south on the same side as South Coast. I can't remember the name but it was next to a tennis club I think. We had a great meal there and was wondering if anyone remembers it?

Planet Hollywwod by South Coast closed down. I think it's a Morton's Steak house now. Can't help you on the Mexican restaurant's name. Perhaps someone else will know.
