I just got a call from Shoppers Hotline (www.shoppershotline.com / phone # is 1-800-528-7383. ) that my application was accepted! :cool1: Back in Feb or March, my 19 yo DS received an application from them - I called and asked if I could submit it with my name, as he is not exactly a shopper! They said sure, but that they currently didn't have a need for someone in our area. So, I sent it in anyway. Then earlier this month I checked their website and entered my zip code - got the same message that still no need for anyone in my area - so I had just given up and forgot about ever hearing from them. What a nice surprise to get the call from them today!! So - don't give up hope if you apply - I was told today that people drop out the program periodically, and then they go to their applicants. (And, by the way - when I went to their website just now and put in my zip again - it still said there was not a need for anyone in my area right now!)

Just another way to get some points to cash in for gift cards to use !!!

Anyone have experience doing this? I'd love some input.

You will either really love this or really hate it. :rotfl: A lot depends on your shopping habits and how much you buy. I think it's easier for a smaller family- you have less to deal with.

I did this for a few years and it was okay at first. It does take some time to earn the points, but the longer you are with the program, the more you earn each month.

They will send you a little scanner and a base that must have a phone line. If you plan to use coupons on your trip, you must scan them ahead of time. EVERY- and they do mean EVERY! product you buy must be scanned if it has a barcode. You will input the type of store, the name if available and the total $ amount spent. Then you scan everything. Fun at first, but it can be a pain when you have a couple hundred dollars worth of groceries and your ice cream is melting as you're trying to scan and put stuff away.

Once a week- usually around 1 am or so, the base will dial up the main computer and transmit your shopping information. If you go on vacation and won't be scanning- make sure you call them. They will call you if you don't scan anything.

I'm not trying to discourage you, it is a neat program. I just got tired of it after awhile. They do have monthly drawings for cash prizes and do other contests but I never won anything in those.

Good luck to you and have fun with it.

I do this. It's not too bad. I find that Wal-mart and Sam's is a P.I.A. because you have to enter a price, if it was on disply, or on sale. They have never called me if I didn't do an entry and there is also an option to enter if you are going to be on vacation.

Are those the only places you have to enter a price if on sale? What about general groceries on sale at the grocery store, or clothing on sale at places such as Kohls? Is it for everything you buy, or just groceries? I'm still a little fuzzy on the fine details, and when I asked they said it would all be explained fully in my welcome pkg. How long did it take to accumulate points to cash in - are the gift cards varied?
