Shopaholic Goes Disney.... A Pre-Trip Report (Updated 12/26)

Today I am staring out my window, watching the remnants of Gustav pass over. The sky is gray and the clouds are thick. (Sigh…)

Weather like this just makes you want to crawl back in bed. However, my cozy comforter is completely out of the question on this dreary day, so instead I will head off to my happy place (mentally, at least).

I’m thinking somewhere tropical…….

polynesian.jpg

Oh, yes…. That’s much better.

The Polynesian will always have a special place in my heart, as it is the first resort I ever stayed at in wonderful Walt Disney World.
We (my grandmother, aunt and 2 sisters) ate at O’Hana and had such a great time. Three years later we returned to O’hana for my 18th birthday. I am sad to report, that it was my last trip. :sad2:

Until January 2009….

I am so excited to take DH here! I think he will love the food and the atmosphere.

We are planning on starting out with this:

I don’t really drink, but I will be on vacation and this looks and sounds so YUMMY!!! In my mind, vacation isn't vacation without a fruity drink.:cutie:

You probably know me well enough by now...

Our O'Hana Attire:

For me, of course. :cutie:

I found this for DH. I haven't made a purchase yet, because I don't know how he feels about Hawaiin print. Hehe! :lmao: (It's Tommy Bahama, so I wouldn't want to buy it and him not wear it.)

Aloha everyone!

It's a gray day here as well, so I loved reading your aloha post!! The Poly is definitely my happy place as well!! O'Hana is lovely...we've only been for breakfast, but I'd love to try dinner someday!

Love your tropical attire as well!

Love your Aloha post.....it's sunny and hot here, so I could use one of those fruity drinks myself today!! So, send it this way!! :goodvibes

Bumpin'!

We're doing Coral Reef, Kona Cafe, Biergarten, Boma, and Olivia's for dinners.

Yum! I would love to try Boma, Kona and eat @ Coral Reef again. I ate there once as a child and had mac&cheese. I remember loving it though.:goodvibes

Great PTR! We'll be there in January of '09 (the 10th through the 18th) with Deluxe Dining as well!

LOVE your purchases so far- and your Belle is too cute for words!

Thanks for the kind words about Belle. She is even cuter in person.:cutie: Maybe we will run into to eachother at Disney.

One fruity delight coming right up....

I need to catch up on what has happened since we left. We are still in Memphis. The storm kept its track when I last posted and sure enough hit exactly where I live. We have pretty much all of our shingles missing. My fence is down. One of the windows had the shutters ripped off, and one of the turbines on the roof was ripped off as well. We will be heading back to Houma sometime this weekend, so who knows exactly how long I'll be gone again. We'll see as soon as we get power and internet back.

Traffic was wild on I-49 this morning! I guess everyone is heading back home. I'm so sorry for the damage, but so thankful that it wasn't any worse. :) Hope you have a safe trip home and keep in touch.

A week has passed and it’s time for another update. This week has been mentally and emotionally exhausting in the world of Youth Ministry, so this one will be short and to the point. Sorry!

LeCellier to be exact.

Speaking of LeCellier, does anyone know the correct pronunciation? Just curious……:confused3

This is our choice of restaurant on our 2nd (technically 3rd) night in the world.

Here’s what I plan on having:

Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup
Le Cellier Mushroom Filet Mignon
Cream Cheese Mashed Potato’s on the side
Chocolate on Chocolate Whiskey Cake

Feel free to share your opinions. I would love to hear them. However, I don’t think you will sway me from the Cheddar Cheese Soup.;)

I got this shirt from Anthropologie and I think it will be lovely for my special night in Canada:

I'm not sure how to type this phonetically... but it sounds kind of like Lay Cell-yay... and I love your menu choices! We have the restaurant booked for our January trip and I'm very much looking forward to trying it.

I love your purchases!

I had the Mushroom Filet with the cream cheese potatoes. Oh. My. Goodness. It was so good. Yum. My skimpy sandwich is just not cutting it for lunch anymore. :lmao:

the cheddar cheese soup is good...but very rich so it was hard to eat all of it...of course the pretzel bread dipped in it is very good.
I had the prime rib (which I normally do not like) OMG it was awesome!!!
I also had the cream cheese potatoes (THE BEST I HAVE EVER HAD!!)

OVERALL:: This was our favorite meal of the whole trip!

We were soo full that we did not have room for the dessert.

That's EXACTLY what I'll be eating on Saturday, January 24, 2009! How cool is that?

Thanks! I love my purchases, too. Hehe! They are hanging safely at my mom's house, waiting the trip.

Yum! Reading all the delicious sounding menus on AllEars makes me crazy. I have changed my ADR's way too many times!

I have a feeling I'm going to be too full for dessert alot on this trip.

Can you desribe the cream cheese potatoes to me? Thanks!

WooHoo, Trixie! I will be giving you a full review when I get back. :)

:lmao: I am the same way. When I booked an ADR for Askershus I said "I need set up an ADR for the princess dinner in Epcot" because I had no clue how to say it and I didn't want to sound like a dummy. :rotfl:

cream cheese potatoes...well they were really creamy...just kind of melt in your mouth. I don;t know (or really remember taste soo much just that I loved them since it was last sept) but I have found the recipe either on intercot or allears and I am going to have to make them sometime---I just don't like to take the time to make homeade mashed potatoes.

I almost did that. I asked the CM how to pronounce Akershus. Is it Akershush or Shus? I've been calling it AkerSHUSH. How funny!!!!:rotfl2:

I know the feeling! I make Bob Evans mashed potatos every week. Pop those babies in the microwave for 5 minutes and there you go!!!! It's hard to cook with a toddler running around!:rotfl:

I too say Le Cell yay---but when I made ADRs the lady kept saying Le Cellars and I was about to crack up!:lmao: It was sooo funny-of course, I could be wrong, but that's how I have said it for so long, anything else doesn't sound right. And as for Akershus---what's up with that!!? could they pick any thing harder? Is it 'Aker' like acre or short a and the end totally blows me away!
Surely someone on here can say this place! Shelly.....? Trixiequilts....?Anyone....?

Wow!!! I just realized that you are about to have the baby!!!! Please keep me updated! I had Belle at 38 weeks. Good luck with everything!:wizard:

P.S. Did you see my little baby Lulu? She's in our family picture. She could be Rusty's lady friend. :) They would make a cute couple!

I've been saying them all wrong!

I've been saying Aker (as in apple) Shush (as in be quiet).

Any other crazy ones you can think of? This is kind of entertaining!

I just like saying Tutto Italia. It makes me giggle.:rotfl:
