Are there any specific tip threads re shooting christmas lights?

We will be at WDW for the osborne lights and of coures the lighst and decs on main st, hotels...but also going to St augustine for their lights.

I have a canon t4i that I am learning to use, so any tips that will keep it simple while touring opposed to on a tripod, would be very appreciated!

Tripod if the tip. You can boost your ISO way up, to 3200 or higher, open your lens aperture as wide as possible, and see if you can get a steady fast enough shot.

But the surest and best way to capture those lights, would be with a tripod. If you don't want to carry a big tripod, I'd suggest looking at a Gorilla pod.

If you want to skip the tripod altogether the easiest way, IMO, to get shots of Christmas lights is to use a fast prime.

Most of my photos of the lights at St. Augustine were taken at about 2 seconds, f/4.5, ISO 200 (with a tripod).

Most of Osborne Lights were at 1/15, f/4.5, ISO 400 (with a monopod). This should give you a starting point anyway.
