I'm about five weeks away from my trip, so I'm thinking that if I'm going to get new walking shoes for the World, the time is now. Only problem--my feet are a women's size 11 wide, and I'm having a LOT of trouble finding shoes that a) fit me, b) are at least sort of cute, and c) are relatively inexpensive (i.e. not $90). Any other large-footed ladies around? What do you recommend?

I too am a size 11 and often buy wide. Afraid I don't have a cheap answer for you. :sad2: I searched for the "perfect" pair of walking shoes for almost a decade. Crocs just don't work for me for more than 4-5 hours.

Being correctly fit for shoes made a world of difference. For the longest time I thought I was a "pronator" with flat feet because my arches hurt. I went and was properly fit it turns out I'm an "under pronator" or "supinator" and I needed less motion control and more cushion. What a difference! They had me walk barefoot on paper with wet feet and showed me how my high arches have little to no give.

New Balance seem to work best for me - and sometimes I'm able to find some good deals (around $85) but most often I pay $110 for a new pair. I wear a New Balance 1063 11D and can walk/stand COMFORTABLY for 6-8 hours.

I'm trying out the Fit Flops for our upcoming trip. I was warned they require some time to adjust so we'll see what happens. So far so good. :thumbsup2

I have to agree with New Balance. I bought a pair (10W) last month for our upcoming trip and they feel great. I bought mine at Big 5 for less than $40. NB sells wide widths, which I always had trouble finding before. I think Big 5 carries a larger size selection than most places. They often have NB on sale for less than $60.

Brooks shoes cater to wide feet. I purchased mine at a running store and they are very knowledgeable about what shoes will fit your foot best. I also have a very wide foot. I would also purchase at least 1/2 size larger than you typically wear (mine are a full size larger, actually). Most people buy their shoes too small... especially tennis shoes and walking shoes.

Another suggestion I have are Teva's. I purchased some Teva sandals and love wearing them at Disney.

Thanks, everyone! I ended up buying New Balances... I did try some on yesterday when I went to the shoe store, but the salesperson told me they would be $79. So I went home, checked their website, and found them for $37 with free shipping! I can't actually believe I got such a deal. :D

Hi,
I am a 9w. The best, very best shoes for me have been Fitflops! I am a pronator, with plantar fascitis and a terrible addiction to Disney! They are $50 in Disney so I expect they are much cheaper elsewhere. If you can't get a ladies wide-try men's. I wouldn't wait to buy them because they have a strap that goes between your toes so you should break them in before your trip.
Good Luck,
Deanna

Another vote for New Balance! I got some from DSW a few months ago and I adore them! I happened to have a coupon when I bought them though so I only paid $30!

I have a 11w as well and I buy my sneakers on QVC they are the Ryka and they fit very well they are a sneaker made just for women and Qvc usually has them in size 11w unless they sold out. I hope this helps I also have some crocks and I wear them with sox it looks funny but they are very comfortable.
