OK, folks, this is our first trip in a bazillion years.

In my real life, I'm a teacher, wearing dress shoes to school each day. I spend most of my summer in flip flops.

I know I need to buy some sneakers (and soon, so I can break them in for August) before we got to WDW. Any extra comfy suggestions??

What do you suggest as an alternate pair of shoes? And why? I might even be willing to go over to the dark side and get some crocs if I were convinced they would be a comfortable alternative to sneakers. (But I do have a question there: don't you pretty much NEED socks in WDW?? And doesn't that pretty much defeat the purpose of all those little holes in the crocs??)

I'm open to any and all suggestions.

I just spent my entire 10 day trip to WDW in Teva mush flip flops. I thought that would be a big mistake, but they were the most comfortable shoe I had ever worn to a Disney park (including crocs).

what id MBT??? im new here:confused3
i have been having this same debate in my head over and over.
so far ive come up with wearing socks and sneakers and bringing crocs and or flips to change into when i start to ache. but i dont really want to bring that much stuff, lol.
ill be watching this post.

what is MBT???

Good question. Anyone.....?

Lizardqueen, I looked online at those Tevas. Are they heavy? I have a great pair of Bass flipflips that I love for summer, but I don't think I could put Disney-style mileage on them because of the weight.

They are not all that heavy & they actually are very cushiony when walking. Trust me, someone recommended them before my last trip (I've been to WDW over 25 times) and I thought that I'd get a pair to try around the pool or whatever. My first day there DME couldn't find my bags and I happened to be wearing the Tevas, so I wore them to Epcot while I waited for my stuff to be found. After the first day I swore I would never wear any other shoe to the parks.

Can you recommend a good source/price?

Any croc/ MBT (sitll not sure what they are)/ Lands End/ Other fans want to check in???

MBT is the first physiological footwear.
Physiological footwear denotes shoes that have a number of positive effects not only on the foot but on the whole body.

I bought both of my pairs of Tevas at Dicks Sporting Goods. I believe they were $21.99 a pair. The ones that I have are the ones with the "single" stap. They have some styles that have criss crossed/multiple straps. I tried those ones on and they seemed to constricted on my foot. I'll have to see if I can find a link and post it in a little.

The Good = K-Swiss Best walking sneaker made. My feet never hurt at WDW. :thumbsup2

The Bad = Flip Flops. Worst shoe for walking all day.

The UGLY = Crocs - far and way!!!! You can tell me til you're blue in the face how comfy they are but nothing can take away the ugly!:crazy2:

We bought Lands End River Trekkers for self, DH & DS. They are a cross between a sneaker and sandal. Breaking them in now for our August trip. I have worn them both with and without socks and they have been great. We also wore them in the pool (just to see how they'd feel wet). They have been great, airy and comfy. The innersole did come out of 1 when wet though. I think I'll just glue it down or maybe it was supposed to for easier drying?

I still think I'll end up wearing my Clark's Sandals most of the time though. They are the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned. I don't know which style they are because they were a hand-me-down from my Aunt. The sole says Clark's Springer Made in England. They look most like the Sarasota Style but they have a soft coushioned cloth under the leather upper. Maybe the Mallo Slide or Sunjose? Sorry I'm not sure of the style/model. They didn't require any breaking in and I could wear them all day every day.

Good luck in your search and you have the right idea to get something now & break them in. It wouldn't be any fun to get to WDW and find your shoes give you sore feet & blisters!

Anytime this question is asked on here, I give the same answer. I love, love, love my Teva Mush flip flops. Teva makes alot of sandals and flip flops that are comfortable, but nothing compares to their Teva Mush flip flops. I own quite a few pairs of them and can wear them all day at WDW with no problems. They are light, cool, and extremely comfortable. They are the most comfortable pair of shoes I own and I have them in almost every color. By the way, I also own alot of Crocs and love them too, but my Teva Mush flip flops are what I usually wind up in almost every day in WDW.

Montrail Molokini flip flops are also great for WDW..

Go to www.zappos.com and get yourself a pair of Keens. This is a tip I got right here on the DIS.
When you read that people took the sandals out of the box,put them on,and never got a blister, its true!!! I was looking for a good shoe/sandal for my upcoming trip and many here suggested Keens. I LOVE THEM!!!!:goofy:

Hi Aubriee

You were the one that recommended the Teva mush to me & I thought, really, how comfortable can a flip flop be. But I bought them and thought I'd just wear them to WDW at night or around the pool. No, I wore them all day every day of my 10 day trip. They were the most comfortable shoe I've ever worn to WDW. Thanks so much for the tip.

I just bought a pair of Keen Newport closed toe sandals, and wow are they comfy. I don't tend to wear sandals much due to a lot of foot problems, but these look like they will carry me through the parks with no problems.

MBTs are the way to go!

I have the tennis shoes and the sandals and, while not the most attractive show, they are the ultimate in comfort. They make my back and legs and hips feel great. They perfect my posture.

The tennis shoes are too heavy and hot to wear unless it's going to be cool at WDW (I tried them in Sept.) but the sandals will be on my feet 100% of the time.

Go get fitted for them.

Google search MBT and go to the official site to learn about them.

 Oh no, clearly you haven't seen the new line of crocs!!! I cast my vote for crocs all the way!! I own 3 different kinds and NONE of them are those ugly holey ones!!

Here are some examples -- plus they all come in a ridiculous variety of colors and sizes...most styles are available in kids sizes as well!!

Sorry to chime in here, but I'm wondering if anyone can recommend sandals that don't have the strap between the toes?
Help!

There's a couple pairs of crocs that don't... and I don't think the TEVAs do... :confused3 I used to hate thong sandals too, but I fell in love with my thong crocs...

Love my Chaco sandals, I can't stand for my feet to be wet in tennies, so I will wear my sandals most of the time.
