Please wear shoes (and shirts) in the concierge lounges:)

Can I add to your list of things to wear to concierge lounges....CLOTHES...

People wandering down in their PJ's and/or robes gross me out!!

Our last stay at the Poly (lounge attire there was the WORST)...there must have been 6 hairy fat guys that kept wearing robes and not much else to the lounge....invariably one of them would sit down right in my line of vision (and things would fall out of those robes that REALLY needed to stay in them) EEWWWWWW

I want to gouge out my minds eye just thinking about it!!!

WHAT were these people thinking???

We are leaving for Poly Concierge in a few hours!!!! :cool1: But I sure don't want to see people in their robes or shirtless. (Well, mabye Matthew McConaughey! :lovestruc ) I can't believe that someone would think that was acceptable! Mabye they need to post a Dress Code in the lounges!

True, however there will always be *someone* out there who feels "I'm paying for this service, I'll do what I want" and who views the concierge lounge as an extension of their hotel room.

some people never cease to amaze me

I understand people wanting those who use concierge to cover up in a modest way, but whats wrong with bare feet? I don't understand that. Would slippers be okay, or does it have to be shoes? And I have PJs that cover way more than shorts and t-shirts, so way would those type of pjs not be acceptable? I'm really curious, not try to stir up trouble. I'm just trying to understand the issue.

I think that in order to keep the integrity of the concierge lounge, it is necessary to have guide lines about clothing. Pajamas are sleepwear, that's all. It just isn't in good taste to present yourself in the concierge lounge wearing pajamas. As far as barefeet, I think it might be a health issue. You don't have to be dressed to the nines for the lounge, it is casual, however, you need to at least wear shorts and a shirt and fllip flops. Just expressing my opinion.

I'd love to understand this as well. I agree with having something on your feet when leaving your hotel room, for safety reasons. But if I want my cup of tea before I have my shower, why should I get dressed if I feel comfortable in people seeing me in my jammies. Sure, it's a "public place" but if I don't care if you see me, why should you care what I choose to be seen in public wearing? I agree that "shirts and shoes" should be required ... heck, throw on yesterday's shirt if you don't want to dirty todays clothes before you shower. And yes, "things" that shouldn't be visible in public shouldn't be visible in the lounge either ... there's a great line of inventions called "undergarments" that go quite nicely under those robes ! :rotfl:

Same goes for those who get upset with people in the lounge in their bathing suits. I personally throw a t-shirt on over mine 'cause that's what I'm comfortable with when I head to the pool, but I don't find it offensive to see people in the halls/elevators etc that are just wearing their bathing suits. That's their choice, not mine. Now if they weren't wearing a suit at all ... ;) And I certainly don't think someone with a WET bathing suit should have a seat in the lounge, but if they're grabbing a drink or a cookie after their swim, what's the big deal?

Am I missing something?

Your answer confuses me. Anyway, bare feet in a public place where there isn't a pool or beach is simply inappropriate. You can dress (or undress) how you please in the privacy.

Would you go to the local dunkin donuts in your pjs for your morning coffee? (and I dont' mean the drive thru!) :)

I realize "PJ's" are more acceptable in public these days...but that's normally college/teenaged kids. I dunno...JMO. I guess it just depends what you sleep in. heheh

Lounges ARE public places. I agree, dress accordingly! Would you stroll to the food court in bare feet and a robe?

I totally agree that bare feet is unacceptable ... it's a health and safety issue. As for the PJ's, I think there's a big difference between walking down the hall from my room in my jammies to get a cup of tea, versus going outside getting in my car and driving to the donut shop and going in. That's JMHO. I'm just curious why anyone really cares what someone else is wearing? As long as I'm not showing "parts that shouldn't be seen", why do you care? It's not hurting you. Maybe you think it's tacky, but who cares ... I see lots more tacky things that go on in public places, and as long as they're not directly affecting me, I don't give it another thought. Lots of clothes out there are more revealing than my jammies.

I guess I just don't see what all the fuss is about. :confused3

I wear my jammies all over the place - mall, grocery store, etc. I often go to the resort store or food court in my jammies (my mom does too). I agree with you MaryLiz on the clothing. I'd probably be one of these bare footed people too (for a quick trip) - I hate wearing shoes - but if someone said something to me, I'd put on my flipflops.

I have only stayed in the concierge one time....so I am new with this....my question would be....we were at the beach club...so we would go to the pool....the lounge is right off the elevators...sometimes my 12 year old did not have a cover up but had flip flops on and a towel wrapped around her.......,when we got off the elvevators after being at the pool...we would stop by and get a snack for the room...our room was so far away from the lounge....do you think she should of have to walk a block to the room...get a cover up...walk a block back to get a soda...just wondering thoughts on that..so the next time we would know...thanks..amy

Please dress before going to the lounge.
If you don't want to dress before your shower; take your shower, get dressed, and then go to the lounge.

The lounge is an eating establishment and a public place. Just like Victoria & Alberts requiring a shirt & tie, I think the concierge lounges have every right to lay down some dress code guidelines. I don't see the concierge lounge as being much different than a Bed & Breakfast and I've never been to one where the guests didn't dress before coming down for coffee in the morning. It's not your house, it's not your living room, it's shared by many. If you don't want to get dressed, call room service.

As a former castmember at the YC concierge i have to agree with many, please wear clothes and shoes! PJs are not acceptable to wear. Yes i know some people have PJs that look like pants and a shirt but there are also other types of PJs and if one is okay why shouldn't the other? it's just common courtesy. Wet swim suits are just ridiculous?@! why would you do this?? I agree with the above poster that stated: it's not your living room, it's an eating establishment!!

Tammi - I absolutely agree with you! I couldn't have said it better. It is just what I wanted to write earlier, but didn't have the time! ;)

- I do not personally have any issue with kids coming into the lounge in their PJs or swimsuits unless they are dripping wet and sitting around getting the furniture wet. Some others might not like it, though. I always make sure my kids have coverups because I know this can be an issue for some guests. I don't like anyone in bare feet (Yuck & unsanitary) though.

It is the sloppy adults wearing the skimpy, one size doesn't fit all, resort robes over almost nothing or their skanky swimsuits or PJs with things hanging out ....that is a bit repulsive to me when I am trying to eat. I have been very lucky and able to stay concierge often, but I have seen some pretty uncouth things.

I realize we are all on vacation, and have different lifestyles, so I don't let it bug me too much. I just look the other way. Whatever. Have fun, relax, just don't let your kids lick food and put it back on the tray. :earboy2: THAT is what REALLY grosses me out.

And if concierge wants to post a "no jammies" policy, then I would certainly abide. The fact that I like my tea and breakfast before I shower and get dressed is my personal preference, and since we've both paid to have use of the lounge, I'm not about to call room service 'cause you don't like my attire. :rotfl2: I guess I was raised to not do something if it has negative effects on others. Someone not liking my PJ's is no different than my thinking that an outfit isn't particularly flattering on someone else ... I can have an opinion but would keep it to myself so as not to hurt someone else's feelings, stranger or not. Now "parts" of me exposed ... yep, definite negative effects there -- wouldn't do it to ya ! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

In the words of Richard Carlson PhD - "Don't sweat the small stuff". :flower:

This was very enlightening for me ... I had no idea people were really bothered by this stuff. :confused3

Have a great day ! :)

Perhaps others aren't comfortable seeing YOU in pjs. You aren't home and shouldn't expect to act like you are. Would you feel just as comfy in some pjs walking through the GF or Poly lobby? Same thing. You are out in public and should dress accordingly. That really isn't hard to understand.
