shoes for kids ages 6 and 10

What are the best kind of shoes to get for children ages 6 and 10 to wear while they are at disney in November? I plan on wearing my Birkki's and I want them to have comfortable shoes also.

After much time spent on these boards before our trip (we returned last night), I bought all of us a pair of Crocs before we left. Even DS8 agreed to wear them! They were perfect for summer weather in Florida! They were cool when it was hot, enabling the kids to kick them off for a few minutes when we sat down on a bench in the shade for a rest, they were perfect for those frequent brief showers, drying out quickly, and they were also great for all those pop up fountains the kids love to play in. I didn't have to worry about them getting their feet soaked and walking in wet shoes all day. Also, all of us loved them for being comfy to walk in, light weight, and good to our tired feet. In fact, my kids got a big kick out of it when we met Aladdin and Jasmine in World Showcase. Jasmine commented that it was time for the family to purchase new shoes as we all had holes in ours! Then Aladdin added that it was very bad to walk in the sandy desert with holes in your shows as sand between your toes was uncomfortable! My kids thought it was so funny!

I had my neice age 8 at the time take some of her Nike's and other comfortable walking shoes along with a pair of flip flops. IMHO I would go with tennishoes or the crocs. Just make sure that they are comfortable for the kids to be in all day and to be able to walk in without their feet hurting too much.

My DD8 and DS6 both love their Crocs. You can wear them with socks if it is a little cooler in the fall.

Buy the Crocs well in advance and make sure your kids will wear them!! DS9 wanted a pair for months before I finally bought some for him. He won't wear the darn things! He would much rather wear socks and tennis shoes than his Crocs. And he refuses to tell me what it is about the Crocs he doesn't like! I don't know if he thinks I'll be mad or if he really can't explain why he doesn't like them. He also has 3 different styles of Teva sandals (Inversion, Hurricane, and one other) and he won't wear those, either. I spend a fortune on shoes for him! Our past 2 trips to Disney he has just worn Nike or New Balance shoes.

Ironically, I decided to buy a pair of Crocs for myself even though I didn't think I would like them at all. I love them and have 2 pairs now.
