Shoe cover suggestions for Tiana’s?

Hi. I’ve heard that Tiana’s is comparable to Splash for soaking riders. I was thinking of getting some sort of plastic shoe covers (and still bringing extra socks). Does anyone have a type or brand that they’ve tried and would recommend? Or any other ideas instead? We’ve also thought of changing in and out of sandals or flip-flops but covers would be lighter to carry if they work.

Thanks!

Thanks for the idea. That would have been cheap and easy - but it’s very hard to get plastic bags now, at least where I am. Maybe mini-garbage bags would work too. 😁

When I rode Tiana, I saw multiple people wrap black garbage bags around their shoes. The day before I rode it, someone in line for another ride told me to swap my sneakers for flip flops and I am SO thankful I did. You get absolutely obliterated wetness wise.

Wow - that’s amazing luck or skill! We’ve held our feet in every spot we could think of and still almost always get them drenched. It hasn’t been the water in the bottom as much as the water gushing over the front and sides and soaking the shoes from the top. 🤷‍♀️ That was on Splash not Tiana’s though.

I never had an issue with wet shoes on Splash (haven't ridden the Tiana version yet), but I always totally cover myself in plastic for KRR at AK because I enjoy the ride, but I hate getting soaked. A little splash (like I'm used to getting on Splash) is ok. A total soaking is not. I used to take some of the the small trashcan liners from the bottom of the trash cans (not the liner that trash is going in to, but the supply they leave underneath that one) in the resort room. They're thin so they fold up very small and easily fit in a pocket without any bulk. They also aren't huge so it's easy to just slip them over the shoes and not have to figure out what to do with the excess bag. I can't remember if housekeeping still had those cabinets in the hallways at resorts so that people could get their own supplies on our last trip, but I also used to get them there. Two years ago I found the same size/weight bags at a store (maybe Amazon??) so I bought a roll that now stays in our Disney bin and I tear off a dozen or so to take on each trip. They're also great to quickly throw down on a wet seat at a show or on a ride so you don't have to sit in water.

I have ridden both many times and have never had a problem.
Sounds like you are a Tiana Unicorn. Most folks experience a total drenching on Tiana’s, at least at DL. I have held my feet in many different positions, even underneath the railings and have end up with soaked feet in any position. I have resorted to bringing a pair of flip flops to avoid it.

Highly recommend shoe covers! We used ponchos and the large Ziplock bags around our shoes and both somehow did almost nothing...we were absolutely drenched. It might have been because we were in the front, though.

A wall of water would come up on each drop, and because there was so much it would go into the bottom of the log then splash back up which hit inside of the ponchos and on our clothes. The front of my skirt and top were still drenched, even though the poncho was completely covering me. The water was stuck in the bottom at one point and so it was just standing water briefly which soaked shoes that were not completely covered.

Honestly, just wear a swimsuit and flip flops on the ride at this point lol

Thanks for the confirmation! I hope we have better luck. I found some plastic shoe/boot covers thanks to an earlier recommendation. If they work well, I’ll post an update in a few weeks. 🤞

We got something like that also on Amazon. My husband was in the front and got soaked even with rain poncho on . I think the water came up on the side and his pants were all wet. But his shoes were dry at least.

I think is virtually impossible to not get at least a little wet on Tiana's (and Grizzly). But I'd rather have my pants a little wet then my shoes.

I agree with how the water came up. The shoe covers from Amazon really worked well for all four of us.
