I know this may be a stupid question but I will like some advice from frequent WDW vistors. It has been many years since I last went to Disney and mom picked my shoes then. And since mom is not picking out my clothes anymore we are going later in the year I would like to know what kind of shoes work the best for long days at the parks. Is it sandles, flip-flops, crocs, nikes or other tennis shoes, or for the very daring high heels? :rotfl2: What shoes to you wear so you can do the happy dance at the end of the day?

Teva flip flops are the absolute most comfortable shoes to wear in WDW! :thumbsup2

I have worn Rockport walking shoes, Birks, Crocs and Keds.....

The best luck I had was with my Birks or Crocs..... I still needed a bandaid or two here and there, but no other pain at all!

Just got back from a trip in early May. Had my expensive sandals (2 pr), know what I ended up wearing and was still able to do at the end of the day???? My New Balance Tennies! Lesson learned for me. Comfort, not fashion rules for these little piggies.

About one month before your visit, buy two pairs of comfortably fitting shoes, preferrably running or walking shoes. Make sure there is no slippage in the heel. That's the most important thing. And walk on both carpet and hard surfaces. Don't just go to Walmart and get cheap shoes either. Take about 2 to 3 walks in each pair and then put them up until your trip. When you're down there, alternate daily even if you don't get the one pair wet.

If you're going to a water park, just get one of those cheap pairs of water shoes at Walmart and use those at the water park. Then if you lose em, you haven't lost much.

Broken in comfortable walking or running shoes with good socks. Lots of people on these boards swear by their Crocs or Tevas, but I vote for the traditional athletic type of shoes (and that's what my kids wear too)! Remember that when you're in crowds of people, your feet can get hurt if you're stepped on by others (which happens a lot).

I bought 2 pairs of tennis shoes a month ago. I walked an hour everyday. The first week my feet hurt...blisters, too. Now in the 4th week of walking I have no problems. I think I'm good to go. I prefer tennis shoes for the protection for my feet.

Oh honey - let me jump all over this post. From past experiences, take two or three pairs. Tennis shoes (broken-in), comfy (not fashionable) sandals or flip-flops that are VERY comfy and maybe a pair of tennis-shoes with the open backs. (mules?)

I found that you get blisters and hot spots in different places from different shoes. My last trip, I wore a nice pair of $125 Adidas running shoes that I have had for almost a year and on day 1, after AK, I had 4 blisters. I was wearing these with nice thick socks. So the next morning, I used blister band-aids, but because of the hot spots, I was walking on different parts of my feet. So, new blisters/hot spots. So - I go to a gift-shop that day and buy a $22 pair of black men's (girly-looking) flip-flops and they saved my trip.

So, the most expensive shoes mean nothing. If I bought those $22 flip-flops off-site, they would have been all of $10. These were so comfy, I wore them the rest of the trip.

Take several so that you have options and pack blister band-aids and moleskin in your first-aid kit. Moleskin can be used prior to getting hot spots. This saves you from friction. :teeth:

Another vote for crocs with socks! I don't even remember I have feet when I wear them.

But I agree if you're doing long days you're best option is to not repeat the same shoe two days in a row. No matter how comfortable it was the first day!

From a regular, I wear running shoes that I've been wearing in, not brand new. But as said bring multiple shoes. When you get back to the hotel it feels good to put on some sandals, etc.. And yes, I have seen my share of the high heel gals. I don't understand, maybe that's what they're used to.
