Shocking

I hate this time of year. It started yesterday. I pulled the blankets back to make the bed, and heard that ominous "crackle". :earseek: I knew I was doomed.

Every time I make the bed from now til spring I get those really nasty shocks from the blankets. You can actually see the sparks in the dark! :scared1:

We get dry heat in our apartment - next my skin will start drying up (not a pretty sight!). Then my hair will get that lovely "fly away" look.

Ah, winter - such a beautiful season

I hate it. You could probably power the TV from my static electricity in the winter.

And then my hands dry out.

The worst was this morning when I had to scrape my car windows for the first time. sigh.

I have a solution for you. Don't make the bed.

I'm loving this weather, feels great. :earboy2: That's probably because we have 10 months of summer here, lol.

Oh, I love the weather! Maybe I should just wear rubber gloves to make the bed! (wow, I just gave myself a great idea!).

I don't have any suggestions for the shocks (sorry), but you could put a humidifier in your home to help with the dry skin and hair. Works for me.

Your post was very ELECTRIFYING for me!! It made my hair go :scared1: ,
my eyes go :earseek:, my limbs go :cold: , and my little-bitty heart go  !!

If it makes you feel any better, I even got a static shock yesterday down here in central FL. The dew point was only in the 40's yesterday and I don't think it's much higher today.

On the Virgo meter, this day is rated a 10++++ :sunny: :teeth:

I know, that's the only thing I hate about this time of year. I went to mass this morning and when it was time to offer peace (shake hands with other parishioners) I shocked the mess out of someone. Or maybe he shocked me. ;)

Hey, I do what I can!! :goodvibes

We used to have that problem in the winter, too. Seeing what looks like lightening coming out of your bed is scary. But we don't have that problem any more now that we have a baby allergic to polyester and other synthetic fabrics. We're replaced all the synthetics and blends with 100% cotton, and now our clothes and blankets don't shock us. I guess cotton just never dries out as thoroughly as polyester. It's not easy to shop for 100% cotton blankets and socks, but at least there is one benefit.

It doesn't matter what time of the year it is or how dry it is for me to get shocked. I get shocked just about everytime I touch the doorknob or when I get out of my car, but the weirdest thing is that I can get shocked from a soda can, a bag of Bugles and even the water out of the water fountain. :scared1: And just the other day I actually got shocked off the formica countertop...too weird.

Just sleep with your rubbers on....
