Shocking behavior on VMK

I logged onto VMK for the first time in ages.. actually lost my character it's been so long. I went to check out the Blue Bayou, and I was totally shocked at the conversations I over heard there!! So much for Disney's safeguards.. they were totally able to get around the dictionary restrictions, using 'glove' instead of 'love' for example. Please tell me I just wandered into a freak situation by chance! I would hate to think that things have gotten that bad there.

While I have seen shocking behavior on VMK, I really can't comment on how "shocking" it would be to say glove instead of love without knowing the context it was being used in. If someone was saying "I glove VMK" for example, I don't really find that horrible. I've said "glove" a few times and never for anything inappropriate. So really when it comes to dictionary dancing, a lot of is really about context as well.

I agree. I have many friends who use glove even in talking to friends. The term love does not have to be anything bad. Now if you want to talk shocking the amout of players talking about making out seems to be on the rise so that is what I am more concerned about. :sad2:

The context was definately inappropriate when I saw it being used. I don't want to repeat what followed, but it was definately sexual in nature.. not just making out either.

Ah think I know where that is leading, and I would definitely have made sure to report that. From what I have seen I don't think that bad of language has been used all that often, but I believe it has been increasing.

Something was going on in VMK last night....In our trade room 3 people came in and started shouting "where is owner?" "stoopid owner!!" "Die to all owner" and then they started "shoot all owner" and then "all ppl in this room are die" and stuff...my DH was the room owner and in a trade window so he missed it all but I kept telling him (he was right next to me on another computer) to boot this person and that...It was very unsettling, to say the least...I do not use VMK Pal so I could not get a screen shot, and of course I could not get to the report button on any of them but I hope someone in that room did...:confused3

If you want a screenshot, all you do is make sure your browser window is in the front of the screen, then hit alt-prtscr. That will copy a screen shot in your computer's memory. Now open any program into which you can paste an image. That can be adobe or any image software, microsoft word, your email editor, anything. After you paste it, save it. No VMK pal needed.

TY I will try that next time...I do have to say that it all went down so fast and these three were dominating all the conservation in there by bombarding the space with their "talk"..it was bizarre..It makes me think it was a planned attack of the nature that I remember something about some group that was supposed to be attacking VMK en mass like last Summer or something? :confused3

I just started getting on again after about a year, and I was very surprised at some stuff. My ten and eight year old neighbors do the whole "taken" thing, and I was very surprised. Their "boyfriends" and "girlfriends" were going, "I glove you", "you look hat today". I am a little surprised how far VMK let this whole taken stuff get.

With the new taken rules in the VMK values, i'm anxious to see what happens long term. Can you imagine a VMK without being asked if you're taken, without stumbling across disgusting and innparopriate situations, without seeing "Boy meet girl" rooms on top of the guest list? I'm sure VMK will draw back the players who quit because of such situations if they implement these rules firmly. Of course, I could be dead wrong, and it could turn out like a school implementing a new dress code. The students follow it for a week or so, then go back to whatever they wore before (that's what happened in my school at least LOL).

Yeah, I too have seen several "shocking" conversations in the Blue Bayou. Not as much in other rooms though... O_o

I agree. The Blue Bayou is pretty tame compared to other rooms, especially guest rooms. It's to the point where most VMK veterans have gotten used to it and ignore it, but some still get annoyed by this behavior.

If it was an adult site, I wouldn't find it shocking.. a little distasteful, but not a big deal. On a site for children, however, it's appalling to me that this is going on.

Yeah I've seen a LOT of those kind of conversations, I report the bad ones, but the strangest thing is, some girl who was in a bad conversation actually said her boy friend was an idiot_boy. Now I don't think that's his title, but it's someone's, which goes back to the "THEY ALLOWED THAT NAME???" Thread...

It's probably been like this for a year now and VMK does not consider it a problem but not they have banned meeting rooms which is good but still you should hear some of the other stuff I have 2 sit through

The first time I saw that room I knew that this would happen someday.

you did not say but did you report it?

If conversation in the game is not reported then staff have no way of knowing something needs attention.

No, I didn't. The reason being that it has been so long since I was on VMK that I had no idea how to go about it, and couldn't think fast enough before it all scrolled off the screen. Plus, I high tailed it out of there. I was fooled a bit, because I wanted to get the waiters attention, and the instructions said you needed to say a special word to get his attention, so when I saw a couple of people say "clover" I thought that was the word and said it myself. I was so embarrassed when I realized what was going on.

Oh wow. VMK needs to watch their secret words since that was indeed the secret word recently. I never even thought about what people would use that for until I saw this post.
