So my sister and I are planning on going to Disney World this summer. Since I just finished my Halloween costume (Snow White) I now need something else to sew. My sister and I thought it would be cool if I made up some tops that kinda look like the princess dresses. So far I've made a mock-up of Sleeping Beauty just to get an idea of a pattern and whatnot. My problem is, I know that Disney doesn't want people in costume. So, do you think my mock-up looks too much like a costume? And if we show up at the gate in things that are "too much like a costume" will we get kicked out?

Thanks for your help and ideas!

Update!!
Here's what I've gotten done on the Belle top so far. What do you think?

I'm not an expert on the Disney dress rules but that shirt is adorable. It looks like a subtle cross between Tink and Belle. Anyway, it doesn't look like anything the characters wear so I wouldn't think you'd have any problem.

I'd love to see your Snow White shirt, sounds cute.

Oh jeez, I'm sorry I just re-read your post and it's supposed to be Aurora's dress which I can see.

Thanks! I need to make a couple of changes to the Aurora shirt pattern. The collar will be more pointed and of course I'll do it in pink!

I'm going to make a shirt for each day we are there! I'm planning on making shirts inspired by:
Aurora
Snow White
Belle
Cinderella
Esmeralda
Pocahontas
Minnie
and Tinkerbell

I'm so excited! I love sewing (this is the first time I'm making up my own patterns) and being a "princess" will be even more fun! I was thinking it would be cool to make shorts in the color of each princesses' skirt for a complete outfit, but I can't convince my sister to go that far!

I'll post more pictures when I get some stuff made.

If you're wondering, here's my Snow White outfit for halloween: http://www.flickr.com/photos/54751787@N06/5069837164/

Nope! I'm quite confident it will be fine! Such a fantastic idea too! I wish people were allowed to wear princess dresses but I understand disney doesnt want a Cinderella look-a-like who's been drinking a bit too much in epcot acting a little crazy around the kids! Ha.

love the shirt and the snow white dress!

you should sell them on ebay --- I know I paid a pretty penny when my girls were little for custom disney outfits -- the shirt is adorable for tweens

Have fun!!
