shipping to a hotel

Has anyone ever shipped anythign to their hotel ahead of time?

This is not for disney.
My mom and I are going back to virginia in december and i am going to be seeing a family that i used to babysit for. I am really close with this family and because i will be seeing them during hanukkah i wanted to get the kids something. Well, the problem is about how to get the stuff there. there are 4 kids and I don't want to be coming back with an almost empty suitcase. So i was wondering if it is possible to either ship it ahead of time to our hotel? Has anyone done this before? We will be staying at a marriott if that matters?

i've done it before.

call the hotel and ask if they will accept packages to store for your arrival. then ask how you should label it, and how far in advance they are willing to receive it (we were told to send it to ourselves in care of the hotel and then to write on the bottom corner of the package our arrival date and i think our reservation number).

with the places we've done this at we've mailed with a tracking system so we can verify the package has arrived and who signed for it, then when we call to confirm our arrival (day before) we check to see if we pick the package up at the front desk, from the bellman or if they will just have it waiting in our room.

btw-if you don't want to go to the expense of mailing there's an easy way to deal with the empty suitcase. if you have the kind of luggage that stores away one inside the other just put the gifts in one of the smaller suitcases, then when you pack to go home put that suitcase into one of the larger ones but pack your clothes into it. i do that quite often but in reverse-when we vacation we always haul back more junk than we take so the empty suitcase is inside the bigger suitcase on the way to the destination

I do it often.

I will address it to me at the hotel. Usually I will use either UPS or USPS and will print the label myself. But I will also prepare large labvels to go on all sides of the box with the same information and mark it as follows:

I have 8½x11 label stock and will use that, trimming as necessary, in at least 36 point type. Actually I will use the largest type size possible to allow it to fit on the sheet in landscape mode.
