Shipping luggage to Disneyland Hotel

Hello all,

Has anyone ever shipped luggage to the hotel instead of checking it on the flight? We are currently scheduled for a Spirit flight next Wednesday, but I have no confidence that the flight will not be canceled (or that Spirit will still be in business). We are booking a "back up" flight for any last minute cancellation, but in the event that we have to use our back up reservation, our checked luggage will be stuck in the bowels of O'Hare Airport and will most certainly not make it to our back up flight. I'm considering shipping our luggage to the resort in advance, but have never done so before (anywhere). Does anyone have any experience in this regard? Thanks!

How long are you planning on staying at the resort? Is it possible to fit everything you need in carryons? I have traveled extensively and we pack everything into one carryon plus backpack per person for trips that are two weeks or less. I’ve dealt with too many lost checked bags to take the risk for shorter trips.

Would you be okay without luggage for a day or two if your shipments are delayed? I’ve never shipped luggage before, but I have definitely dealt with a lot of shipment delays over the past few months. And it is wildfire season, which definitely has an effect on shipping here.

Your best bet IMO is to pack carryons with essentials and a few days of clothes then check everything else...even if your checked luggage gets lost or left behind, buying a few new items of clothes to get through the rest of the trip will be likely be cheaper or at least wash than shipping all your luggage!

I have received packages at hotels before although not the Disneyland Hotel. I've always had it in my room when I checked in. In general, you should call in advance to make sure it's OK and so that they know to attach a note to your reservation that you are receiving a package. When shipping it, add a note with your reservation/confirmation number to the outside of the package.

In general, it would be better to just get everything in a carry on. If you can't, I would make sure to book a flight with a credit card that includes baggage delay insurance if you have one. That way, you can just buy things you need and get it reimbursed.
