Shipping lightsabers home

We will be shipping 2, maybe 3 lightsabers home. Where do we go to do this, and does anyone have an approximate cost?

If DLR does not have the ship to home feature available when you purchase the item, see if you can get the measurements of it and the carrying case. Add up to 6 inches for each side for bubble wrap / padding to get the estimate of the size.

There is a post office about a few blocks away from DLR's Mickey & Friends Parking Lot (on Ball Road)

But, due to the size of the of the lightsaber, you might see if this will work from the post office (you have to pre-order it but it's free, most post offices don't actually carry this in stock because it is not used often). Pre-order it and bring three of them with you, flattened and bring bubble wrap, if you have enough:

I posted the medium option, because I think that's how big it will be, but I haven't built a lightsaber. You can probably only do one per box. Postage will depend on the destination and you will likely want to insure it for the full amount of the experience, since you'll have a receipt to justify it in case it gets lost.

I did an estimate on the post office, based upon the size of the medium sized poster tube, and from CA to NY, it will cost $32 to ship priority with $250 of insurance for 5 pounds.

So, your best bet is to have DLR ship it to your house. They use UPS and it is based upon the purchase price. Hopefully, this is an available option. If not, go with the option I outlined above. You would likely pay a similar price as you'd need to purchase the box and bubble wrap there from UPS or FedEx.

By the way, we had no problem taking our Savi’s- built lightsabers with us as carry-ons on the flight home. The airlines are quite used to it and they fit handily in the overhead bin, in their carrying cases.

Of course OP might just find it easier to ship them, but if anyone is interested, this info is posted on the TSA's "What can I bring?" list.
"Sadly, the technology doesn't currently exist to create a real lightsaber. However, you can pack a toy lightsaber in your carry-on or checked bag. May the force be with you."

We were able to ship lightsabers home from WDW earlier this summer. It was $18 each for the shipping. Ask about it when you purchase.

Your oxygen and cpap don't count against your carryon total. And most of the time they don't count the hand carried "toy" items either. We have definitely flown home from Disney with a kids lightsaber and multiple carryons before.

The carrying case that comes with the Savi sabers protect them very well on flights. They fit either on the floor along the bulkead (under the window) or up in the overhead bin very easily. If they don't have the option to ship from the resort or the park then just do it that way. No need to spend the extra money going to a UPS Store or USPS.

You should double check with your specific airlines (American used to make you call their special assistance line and have the info put on your ticket) but every one that I have flown on with my mom and her medical items has allowed her the regular carryon, personal item as well as the medical items she carries.
