Shipping Costs - Advice Needed

Maybe some of you ebayers can help me.

If I have to ship a large, heavy box, what have you found to be the cheapest method? USPS, UPS, Fedex,??????

Thanks - any advice is appreciated.

i am sending a 55 lb huge box to england, and after searching all 3 i have found the usps is the cheapest by alot. if you know the weight go to their sites, and use their online calculators to get you an idea.

I always find that ups is the cheapest, but you can go to www.ups.com and www.usps.com and I'm sure fedex has a website as well to get prices beforehand.

I shipped something that UPS considered OS/2. it weighed 80pounds!! UPS wanted $110 to ship. FEDEX shipped it for $40.

this was in the US. the only things I ship out of the country go by USPS and in flat-rate pouches.

I would check all three sites. I also tried airborne( they are merging with one of the others, i think DHL)

I never use UPS to ship out of the country, because of the fee they charge the person getting the package (one was going to be an additional $40!). It's some kind of custom fee charge for having to fill out paperwork.

If you give us the weight, and the measurements, and where it's coming from and going (zip codes and city/state), and if it's being picked up from or going to a business, we can prob help you out better.

dmrick- i have to send a box to england in a few days. it is around 55 lbs. i have found that the economy shipping for international was the cheapest method through usps. and that is what my ebayer has decided to use. I have never sent anything over seas before. so i am unsure of the process i have to use to send it there. It is a bunch of collectible village houses and accessories. the box it is in is pretty big 40x11.5x30.5 ". but i have looked and it would cot more to send in 2 seperate boxes.(oh it has to go to sittingbourne, kent me10 2na , UK
I would appreciate any info you could give me.

I've found Fedex Ground is the cheapest for bigger packages. Hope you find what works for you!
