Hi has anyone shipped themselves a pkg of needed items prior to trip? Such as snacks, shampoo, toddler items (cups, dipes) and if so- how do I address pkg and what can I expect??

When to mail? Can you recommend UPS vs FEDEX or does that not really matter?

TIA!

I thought about renting owner's locker also as we will be going in Sept and coming back in jan.

What about strollers....my kids hated the Disney rental as head and neck very uncomfortable ad couldn't nap in stroller- we could drag ours down to FL? A friend of mine mentioned in passing that she rented one and that they delivered to her hotel?!! Anyone know about this idea? What service? Stroller type?

Address your package you yourself at the address of the resort (check the DVC Resource Center link at the top of each DVC discussion forum) and your arrival date. The resort will hold your package at Bell Services until your arrival. I'd send it so it arrives a day or two prior to your check in date.

Owners Locker offers a discount for DVC members. You'll need to follow the link from the Member's website to get to the discounted rate page. Your locker will be delivered to Bell Services and they will be happy to deliver it to your villa.

Magic Strollers - www.magicstrollers.com (part of Owners Locker) - is a great option for stroller delivery to your resort. They are one of the companies on WDW's preferred provider list. Your stroller will be waiting for you at Bell Services when you arrive.

I shipped a package to AKV-Jambo House in March.

When I got to my room and called down to Bell Services to ask them to bring up my Owner's Lockers and the package, they refused to bring up the package. They said I had to go to the front desk to get it.

I waited for Bell Services to bring up my Owner's Lockers. Then I went down to the front desk. The package was too heavy for me to carry through the hotel and up to my room. The front desk had a runner bring it up. I had to wait at least a half hour for that.

I have shipped packages to Disney resorts three or four times. I never put my arrival date on the package because it doesn't fit on the FedEx form.

But the FedEx form does ask for the recipient's phone number, so I always have the hotel phone number handy to put on the form.

(Now that I think of it, if I had forgotten to write down the hotel phone number ahead of time, I could have used my smart phone to look it up on the Disney website. Also, I always put the hotel phone number in the Contacts on my phone before a trip, so I could have gotten it from there.)

I'm not opposed to using UPS, but the FedEx facility is easier to get to from my house.

I shipped FedEx Ground this time. Someone who works at the local FedEx said that she ships stuff to her mother in the Orlando area all the time, so she knew that it would take about two days. If you ship FedEx Air, you know how many days it will take because that determines how much it costs.

I bought all kinds of bulky supplies (eg, diapers) and non-perishable things on Amazon then ship it to the resort. When I check in, everything is ready for me... no rental car or excessive packing needed.

Genius!!! I wondered if I could do this? Didnt realize I could buy that stuff on amazon! When did you do this? 1 wk prior to your trip?!

When dd was a baby i used to ship cases of formula from amazon to dvc resorts. The hotels with business centers charge $5 for the pavksge but it was easy and i had what i needed.

I second all of the above. We do have two Owners Lockers and LOVE them! We have also rented a double mini stroller 3 times in the past year from Magic Strollers and were very happy with them. The service is impeccable and the strollers themselves were in excellent condition!

Great to know - thanks all! I'be got some great ideas! Owners locker will be needed! DH isn't so excited about stroller rental but it's very important as we spent 13$/day I think last time for park rental out of desperation and that totals the park rental/wk at the stroller rental through owner locker - no brainer to me.

DS will be almost 4 yrs old (few mos away from 5 yrs. though) and 45 lbs at that time, so he'll be pushing the stroller limit BUT will be helpful for naps and rests - I know we'll need it!

We've shipped diapers down and we also have an owners locker (considering a second even). Diapers and formula I would totally ship via amazon, and keep the leftovers in the OL if they will fit the next trip.

Another stroller rental option is Kingdom Strollers. They have larger weight capacity strollers and their pricing is competitive. We have used them and Magic Stroller in the past. They both have excellent customer service. Kingdom Stroller can guarantee a rain cover. When we have used Magic Stroller in the past, it was an "as available" request. Maybe things have changed since then. Magic Strollers is owned by the people who own OL, and we love our OL and the excellent service they provide!

Another vote for Magic Strollers! :thumbsup2 We have used them at least five times and service was impeccable each time! I also loved the cleanliness of the strollers, and the price was reasonable.

Have fun on your trip!

We've always brought our own stroller. The airlines we have flown don't count the stroller against your luggage count. We typically took them right to the gate and just gate checked it as we got on the plane. You may want to check your airlines policy for strollers and traveling with children. We were also surprised to be able to have a diaper bag that was in addition to our personal item and carry on count.

Yess! You definetely need a stroller. Soo much walking for their little legs. And naps in the stroller are great.

I for one would not ship or rent a stroller. We have done several trips when our kids were in strollers and found out it is not difficult at all. You can gate check a stroller at no charge. And we found that having the stroller in the airport was an advantage because you can load up luggage and jackets on the stroller and have a free hand to hold onto the kiddo. Even our umbrella strollers could hold a surprising amount of stuff.

Now that our kids are too big for strollers we miss them when schlepping through the airport.

Our youngest is 7, so we're done with strollers and diapers, but when our kids were little we brought reclining umbrella strollers from home. DS7 used The First Years Ignite - it was a great park stroller and only about $50!

We used gardengrocer.com to deliver diapers, wipes, water, snacks, breakfast foods, baby food, etc. to the resort. When our youngest was on hypoallergenic formula, we had that shipped directly to the resort from Enfamil.
