Shipping a souvenir gift to family from DW store or resort?

Wasn't sure the best board to ask this but I thought I'd try here first. Also checked the sticky and did a search, but still not coming up with it and sorry if I missed it.

Anyway, the question is that we will be buying souvenirs, gifts, etc at the parks and resorts and wondering about the delivery back the resort, or is it to our room? option...wondering if it's still available and how you do it. Also, is there a way to have a Disney merchandise gift shipped directly to...wherever (in the U.S.)..... either from the shop it's purchased at, or from the resort after it's delivered?

While we are enjoying our ten day stay at the Beach Club we will be missing our granddaughter's birthday and thought, since she is such a big Disney fan, that it might be fun to surprise her with a gift sent from Disney World.

Any thoughts or experiences would be greatly appreciated.

From my own experience, they send stuff from the theme parks and any store back to your resort, had to pick up from store in lobby. And they can ship to anywhere from the individual stores. We bought the big castle for our daughter and had it shipped home from the beach club resort.

I've purchased items at the World of Disney and had them shipped from the store. Not exactly cheap, but very convenient.

I have never done it, but I think there may be some lag time for picking up at your resort store. It may not necessarily be the same day, but again I'm not sure. Hopefully someone will chime in who has first hand knowledge. Also, if your item isn't very large USPS has some flat rate shipping boxes. As long as it fits in the box it ships for the flat rate anywhere in the US.

When you buy merchandise at the park it gets shipped to your hotel gift shop for pick up. It can take up to 2 days to get there. I do know they can ship your home but have never done so I do not know the cost.

This is very, very helpful information. We won't have a car, and not sure that we'll need to have something either delivered or shipped, but it sounds like we can do it if if makes sense and we want to...and that's the main thing we wanted to know.

You have 4 options to have merchandise sent to a different location from where you bought it.

1) Have items sent to the front of the park. You can pick them up a few hours later on your way out.
2) Have your items sent to your resort. It can take a few days, and you will need to pick them up at the resort gift store.
3) Have the store ship the items for you. The shipping cost is based on the dollar value of your purchase. You can see the shipping prices here -> http://allears.net/tp/mailorder.htm
4) Have the items sent UPS/FedEx by the front desk/concierge. You will pay the estimated shipping cost, plus a handling fee. If your resort has a business center, they will also do it for you.

A heavy/bulky purchase with a low dollar value may be better to have the desk ship it for you. The hard part will be finding a box to ship it in. You can usually ask at your resort store for a box, but there is no guarantee they will have anything. If you make multiple purchases, you can bring them all to your resort store and have them all shipped at once. They may need to "return" and then "resell" you everything, but it is possible. This would work well if you say had 2 $15 purchases, instead of paying $9.95 for each item, you would be able to ship both for $9.95.

If I were going to ship something UPS/USPS from Disney, would it be the same cost as if I were shipping the item myself via the same services?

I ask because I plan on getting something for someone and I was going to take it home with me, and then ship it to them. I figure if I can ship is directly from the park to their house for the same price, I might as well save the trouble!
