Shhh! Let's sneak off to Disney - Nov 2012 PTR Updated 11/19/12

Your plans sound great so far!

I have never eaten at LeCellier - not sure if we ever will - definately not with the kids in tow, maybe if I can ever convince DH to do with me... Sigh.

And you for sure need to do a meet n' greet with Pluto - no questions!

I would help you out with your martinis if I was there. ;)

D~

I'm excited about Le Cellier, we tried to get in there in 2010 but no luck. I didn't really know about the 180 day rule when I was planning that trip.

You could definitely help me out with the Martinis!

I'm here...be back to catch up (running for train at work).

I made it!!! Your pups are adorable! Sorry Eddie is blind now, but I've worked in the animal care field for 9 years now and they adjust so well to blindness and get around like they can see still.

Love your plans for the first day. As for Fantasmic!, it was redone at the beginning of this year, so the one you see this time will be different from the one you saw last year. I saw the second show of the new version this past February and it was wonderful. :goodvibes

Yea! Glad you found it! :wave2: Thanks on the pups, Eddie is doing pretty well. He disappeared on DH this afternoon and he found him in the backyard. He made it all the way out the doggie door on his own so I'd say he's getting used to being blind!

How did I not know Fantasmic was redone? I think I've read every thread on these boards. :rotfl: Now I definitely need to make sure we catch it.

Ariana, I am all caught up. Great intros; and I LOVE your Pluto room. I'm sorry your DH is not a Disney lover...I don't know how I'd survive if my DH wasn't.

Your plans sound great thus far. A little suggesiton for dessert at LeCellier if I may? The Chocolate on Chocolate Whiskey Cake is :worship::worship::worship:

Looking forward to reading more.

:welcome: Glad you could join in. :goodvibes I am bummed that DH isn't a Disney lover but at least my Mom and most of the rest of my family are. I can always find someone to go with me.

Thanks for the Le Cellier dessert suggestion. That sounds wonderful! With me the more chocolaty (is that a word?) it is the better!

HI!

I jumped in from seeing your beautiful Pluto bag on D~'s trip report!

First of all...another GA girl! I would say Atlanta, but technically I haven't lived in Atlanta since I was in first grade and that was way before you were born...so let's just leave it at Atlanta...although I used to work in Atlanta...

Anyway, we will be in Disney at the same time! We leave bright and early at 3 am the day after Thanksgiving, and return on Dec 3... of course, we drive instead of fly...if we had to fly I would NEVER get my husband there! LOL!

Can't wait to see the rest of your plans!

I don't really have time for a full update today so I thought I'd have some fun. I started to lay some stuff out for the trip today!

I've got some ponchos that were $0.88 each from Wal-mart:

I've got my trip journal:

I decided to try pin trading this time so I can add to my Pluto pin case. So I bought a lanyard and some starter pins. I'm not 100% thrilled with the lanyard, I may try to find a better one before I go.

006-1.jpg

My Minnie Mouse nail polish so I can do my nails before the trip:

007-1.jpg

Some maps I cut out of the Passporter book and laminated. I thought these might be easier than unfolding a big map all the time.

008-1.jpg

An extra memory card for my camera. I'm debating buying a third one since I won't be bringing my laptop:

Very important, my Magical Express packet!

010-1.jpg

Last, but certainly not least, my beautiful custom Pluto Park bag. The maps above fit down in it perfectly.

005-1.jpg

And one more picture of me modeling it! (Definitley not a model :rotfl:)

And that's it for today. I hope to get a real update done tomorrow or Tuesday.

I like the lanyard...it's going to be covered with pins anyway so I wouldn't worry so much about it. I love your Pluto bag...just too cute.

The Pluto bag is very nice! :goodvibes And I agree with Kathy, the lanyard will be too covered in pins to worry about!

Oooh - LOVE your idea of laminating Passporter maps... I have tons of Passporter books I've purchased over the years for $1... I could sacrafice one, maybe. LOL

So glad you're bringing a trip journal - totally necessary for your TR.

Love the Minnie nail polish... I actually picked it up yesterday while we were in Ulta (no price tag on them), and sighed - wishing they were Donald. LOL

And, of course, very glad you love your UPB - it looks smashing on you!!! :)

Thanks for joining in! :wave2: I'm a GA girl now, have been for a little over 10 years. I grew up in Pennsylvania but my DH got transferred to GA in 2002. We're about a half hour north of Atlanta.

That's exciting that you will be there the same time I am! If you see my Pluto bag, come say hi! Do you have a PTR going?

I drove in 2011 when I went with two friends. It's not bad, we left about 7 am, stopped for lunch an still got to CSR around 3:30. I'm flying this time because I don't want to drive all that way by myself.

I like the lanyard...it's going to be covered with pins anyway so I wouldn't worry so much about it. I love your Pluto bag...just too cute.

I got that Lanyard because it had Pluto on it so I do like it. I just want to try to find one that has a clip so I don't have to take it off over my head. Thick curly hair = things getting stuck in it all the time! :lmao: Not really too big a deal.

The Pluto bag is very nice! :goodvibes And I agree with Kathy, the lanyard will be too covered in pins to worry about!

Thanks on the Pluto bag, I really love it! See my response to KatMark above as to why I may get a different lanyard.

It was my Mom that suggested tearing the maps out. I just took it one step further since I have a laminator. When I was visiting her in July, we had 5 different Disney Guidebooks that we were going through! I also made two copies of the MCO map and laminated them. One for Mom and one for me so we could coordinate where to meet.

Yep, trip journal is a necessity this time so I can do a TR.

Mom sent me the Minnie nail polish so no clue how much it cost. Being from GA, I paint my toenails almost year round to wear sandals so it's going to come in handy!

I guess you can tell I like my bag! :rotfl:

OH... for those who don't want to tear out the passporter maps (like me) you can copy them...then laminate them! Last year I made all the people in our troupe copies and made them a travel folder with the park maps, a Disney map, map of the resort they were staying at, and for the one using Disney transportation I included some info on which bus to ride to get from their resort to where they needed to be each ...the one thing I left out was how long the Disney transportation took ...in a rain storm! LOL!

Nini

Hmmm~ I have never seen the Minnie nailpolish kits. Does it tell you how to accomplish different designs? That may be something to look into for my girls and I when we go. :thumbsup2

I LOVE the new luggage tags!!! ::yes:: And, yes~ that Pluto bags looks great on you! Your trip is coming up FAST now!!! :scared1: Jealous!!! :( But so excited for you and your mom! :goodvibes

We will be up bright and early this morning (and most likely every morning after). We will probably head to Centertown for a quick bite to eat. Neither one of us are big breakfast eaters so our morning meals will be pretty boring. Then we will hop the first bus to Hollywood Studios:

Disney-s-Hollywood-Studios-9748.jpg

Making rope drop is a must because the first ride Mom mentioned wanting to catch was TSM. I know that lately they are letting people in early so I hope to be the park between 8:30 and 8:45. My strategy is to head straight to TSM, ride it and then grab some fast passes for later.

We’ll probably head down Sunset Blvd after that to catch ToT and RnRC. The coasters, ToT and simulator rides tend to make me a little queasy but I’m going to try Bonine this time so hopefully I should be fine. I tried it at a local amusement park this summer and had no queasiness despite riding lots of coasters. Next up will probably be Star Tours. I missed the reopening of Star Tours by a few weeks in 2011 so I'm excited to try the new version. Then it will be TSM again once our fast passes come due.

Once we get all of the thrill rides in, we will slow down and see some shows. I’m going to get the show schedule ahead of time so we can plan when to go where. I’ve seen all of the HS shows and can take or leave any of them so I’ll leave it up to Mom to pick. We’ll also try to squeeze in the GMR, Animation Class and Muppets too if there is time. Maybe even the Back Lot Tour since it’s rumored to be replaced by Carsland.

Lunch is undecided at this point. We’ll probably just grab something along the way. I also want to get to Starring Rolls for a Chocolate/Peanut Butter Cupcake.

Dinner that night will be at the one restaurant that we are repeating from our last trip. When we started talking restaurants for DHS, there was only one choice for either of us, Mama Melrose.

3834603863_4d55c89072_z.jpg

You see, in 2010, we celebrated what would have been my Dad’s 62nd birthday at Mama Melrose. We knew right away that we wanted to go back this year and have another glass of wine in his honor. Our reservations are for 7:35 so if we missed Fantasmic the night before we could go this night as the show is at 6:30. I will be ordering the Chicken Parmesan.

HS closes at 8 pm so after dinner we will head back to our room for the night. I have considered hopping to MK which has EMH that night but we would probably only get an hour of park time. It just doesn’t seem worth it to me.

Sorry about the lack of pictures, I promise there will be more in the next update!

Next up: Animal Kingdom and a special Birthday present for Mom

Love your Studios Day and love that you are going back to Mama Melrose to lift a glass of wine in celebration of your dad. :thumbsup2

Love the new Star Tours...but have to admit, it made me a little queezy when I got off of it the last two times. :sad1:

I thought about copying them but decided I wasn't going to use the book for too much else so I just cut the maps out. I did copy the MCO map so I'd have a copy for both me and Mom.

I don't think there are design instructions but I haven't opened the box yet. I'm curious now and will have to check it out when I get home from work. I'll report back on my findings!

I love the luggage tag too! Not so thrilled with the strap for attaching it to the bag but I'm pretty sure I have some extras somewhere that I can use instead.

Love your DHS day... That is one thing we always fail to do - the shows...

The girls love RnR and ToT (I am a new ToT lover, I am very excited to be riding it again) I will skip RnR.

We love the Animation studios thingy where you draw... I am sure we will have to do that again too.

Very sad about BLT... We have never ridden that one - and I am going to have to push it up on my "Must Do" list, because if there's rumors that it will be gone, I would like to experience it at least once.

We have never been to Mama Melrose's... But how wonderful that you are having that meal in memory of your Dad. (((Hugs)))

I can't believe how quickly your trip is approaching!

I LOVE Mama Melrose!!! And the Chicken Parmesan is my favorite there too. Great that you can eat there and have a toast to your dad :goodvibes

Thanks! Star Tours does usually make me a bit queasy so I'm hoping that the Bonine will help. ToT is the worse for me though, I have to take a break after that one and have a coke! :crazy2:

Surprisingly I've seen every show at DHS. As for RnR, I think it's the mildest coaster at Disney. Yeah, it does go upside down but you barely feel it and there are no big drops like EE. I also think it's much smoother than SM.

I've never done the animation class so I want to try that. I can barely draw a stick figure so it should be interesting!

I know BLT doesn't get a lot of love on here but I enjoy it. I especially like the part were it goes through the costume area.

18 days, 21 hours according to my Iphone countdown app!

Very bummed today though. My boss just told me that I cannot have time off next October because we are busy that month. DH can't take time in November or December cause he's busy then. My fall 2013 anniversary trip is looking like a no go.

Mama Melrose has always been one of my favorite restaurants. i think the food is good and don't really get the bad reviews.

Not sure if you saw in my PTR... Thinking of moving my trip to Aug... Seriously considering it so the girls don't miss school.
