Nothing happens. We sat for at least five minutes with the recorded voice saying over and over again “ Prepare for launch.” We would prepare and nothing would happen. This wouldn’t have been so bad of a wait had it not been for the fact that I think I pulled the restraint bar down and little too far and it was crunching my chest. This coupled with the fact that the space is quite confining (Claustrophobics should avoid this ride) and I was ready to get the ball rolling or get the heck out. They finally open the capsule and release the harness and say it will be a few minutes. Oh great our mission was scrubbed!! Just like real NASA astronauts. Guess it’s all part of the build up to the ride.

Then I realize that more than likely someone got really sick and they had to clean it up. Maybe this ride is just too intense. I honestly starting to think this. This from me – the woman who for her 21st birthday went skydiving. And bungee jumped 380 feet in the Swiss Alps. I decided to stick it out and not let on to the others that I was starting to get nervous. We finally are told to re-prepare for launch. And we do finally blast off.

All I have to say is that is the most unique ride/experience I have ever encountered at a theme park. I wouldn’t classify it as a thrill ride so much as a total immersive experience. Truly a ride for the ages. I suggest everyone ride it at least once.

Next we ventured to Test Track where the boys got a kick out of the queue and pre-show ride. DM and I had been on this before and knew what to expect. A good ride was had by all.

Now onto Ellen’s Universe of Energy. I know this attraction is a bit cheesy but I just can’t get over the fact that… Oh wait –just in case some of you are reading this and have never been to this attraction before, I don’t want to ruin any surprise. Let’s just say I love the “journey” you take. But after close to 30 hours without sleep, I think all 4 of us nodded off a few times. Especially Dude - who I think could sleep anywhere, anytime. It was finally time for a nap.

So we hightailed it back to the resort and spent some “down” time relaxing there. No one particularly slept for fear that once we went to sleep we might not get back up and we had 7:10pm PS’s at California Grill. We munched on concierge snacks, watched the boats on the lake and chilled out in the hammocks along the beach.

We arrived at the Contemporary about a ½ hour early in hopes that we could request a window seat for fireworks. This restaurant was very busy. I guess it’s a pretty popular place on Saturday nights. Arriving early only added to our wait and according to the CM there was not a real great chance that we could sit by the window. We waited at the bar until 7:15pm when a CM (Jasmine you rock!!) informed us the table was ready. She led us straight to a table by the window. Talk about magic. Remember – I said we seemed to be having the perfect first day and this only added to the magic of it all. We sat by the window, ate great food, laughed, took in the view (which included a woman breastfeeding in the lounge area), and enjoyed the fireworks from a breathtaking view. When they were over Panda looked at me with the biggest smile on my face.

He didn’t have to say a word. I love you too!! Happy Birthday!!

Full of food and happily content we headed back to the Poly for some much needed sleep. They were going to need it. We had theme parks to hit and the Workseet to follow and besides they didn’t know anything about my “Commando Nikki Whistle” safely secured in the nightstand drawer…

What a cool present for Panda and what fun for your parents who get to come along for the fun - and the planning.
