Shhh... don't tell ANYBODY.... but Knoebel's is more fun than Disney!

I love Hershey Park!!! Can't say that i love it more than WDW.....but I do love it. Sure beats Six Flags any day IMHO! My favorite coaster in the whole world is The Comet! I love those old wooden coasters.

I've never been to Knoebel's but have thought about going. Do they have any rollercoasters?

I don't do rollercoasters, but supposedly they have the best wooden roller coaster in the US.

If that's your thing, that's your thing.

For me, it just can't get any better than Disney. I've tried. :sunny:

Actually my mom would approve of you. :rotfl:

Sounds like one brilliant woman.

When the PD clan comes down to crash at your place, you'll have to introduce me to her.

I'm 20 minutes from Hershey Park (going this Friday in fact for DW's company picnic). Lightning Racer - Best Wooden Coaster Bar None!!!!

As for Knoebel's - that place is great.

I'll take your word on that! But I think the one at Knoebel's was actually voted number one by some roller coaster group.

Either way, I ain't going on it.

Would like Knoebel's better then Disney if you Disney was the same low price?

She would LOVE to debate with you. ;)

Nope, mom's in Missouri. :sunny:

Yep. I'm a well known WDW hater. Too many people, sky high prices, just ok food......

I'm only on DIS because I came here to research a trip and found that I liked the people.

I like Disney, just not the parks.

another big Knoebels fan here. I read a review of Knoebels that stated "Disney may make magic, but Knoebels is magic".

A few years back, for vacation, we left the mickey state heading north, with the ultimate goal...Knoebels.

Such a laid back atmosphere there. You also don't feel like they're out to tear every penny you've got from your wallet....free parking, free admission,
picnic areas where you can bring your own food, reasonably priced and very tasty food for sell, employees (including many senior citizens) who really liked being there doing what they were doing....I remember a old "granny" who was operating the Frog Hopper...there was a group of kids who would "hop", get off, out the exit, right to the entrance, and back on the ride-she was so good with the children, even began to call them by name.

The curly rocket slide was also so much fun...so simple, but the kids had a blast, as did mom and dad. I could go on and on.

Part I liked best was ride after ride on the Phoenix with at most a one train wait....coaster heaven!

during a ride on the Phoenix, I lost a screw out of my glasses. I went to the park office/first aid place to see if they could help me out. The guy behind the counter pulls out a big box of "found" glasses and proceeds to find a screw which would fit my glasses. The man's name...Rick Knoebels...I think he was the grandson of the park founder, and was in charge of the operation now. How's that for a personal touch.

Thanks Papa D! I think we need to check it out!!!!

I thought the OP used to have a tag or a signature saying he had never been to WDW and didn't plan on going.

I must be "mis-remembering" !

I've never had more fun anywhere than at WDW (been to NJ's Gang Adventure, Busch Gardens and Universal), but to each his own. There's something for everyone. :)

WOW...and some mother actually trusted you with her daughter.... I bet she had no idea that your thinking is so messed up...LOL
WHERE were all these Knoebels Lovers last summer when we had a dismeet there...

I have a great time when I visit this place. Little family owned amusement park with lots of rides.

Most rides cost about $1.00. The food is great. We had pizza that was a lot better than any we can get where I live. You can actually win prizes at most of the games. And you can even bring your dogs! And it has a small water park, too.

We went for 2 days... 2 adults and 4 kids. One day was the whole day and one night for 4 hours... We did everything, had a great time..... about $100 total!

And the longest line we waited in was LESS than 10 minutes, usually less than 5.

EDIT. This post was TOO FUNNY. I had to try and post it 4x before it would actually post... Like DISNEY was actually blocking it! :teeth:

Haven't been in ages ( '95???) but for DSthen5 or so, Sesame Place was better than Disney. I think many of the smaller parks can be very special, & every bit as wonderful as Disney. As for SP, no huge sensory overload, plenty of familiar characters & interaction, decent food--fresh Jersey strawberries, we'll never forget--fun water rides that DS could handle. We went in May & I understand in the summer it can turn into a mad house, but so can WDW! ;)
Yes, Knoebel's & SP are small; a one or maybe 2 day thing, but much more relaxed & I really think, an overlooked alternative to Disney for families with tiny tots &/or tighter budget. Great for a mini-vacation!
It is one of our best family memories ever!
So beat me with a wet noodle! :teeth:

I've been there 3x. Most recnently last October. I don't like WDW but I have certainly been there.

Our family loves this park too. We head up every summer; all my siblings with our children and grandma & grandpa. Between the magic of this park and the family all being together our kids have had some of the best times of their lives at Knoebels and memories that will last a lifetime. Pictures on the log flume with grandma and grandpa can't be beat.

Don't ge me wrong we LOVE WDW, it is my DD favorite place in the world (yes world, she is well traveled for a 19 yr old), but all of our family does not go to WDW. You couldn't get my father there if you paid him as he suffers from anxiety attacks when in a crowd.

My youngest brother was just talking about this over the weekend at a family barbecue. His son is just 4 months old, all the other grandkids range in ages 10 - 21. He was feeling sad that by the time his son is old enough to remember things all the other kids and grandma and grandpa will be too old to go with him. The rousing response from everyone around? We'll never be too old to go to Knoebels! :)

Papa Deuce, you are NOT supposed to tell everyone about Knoebel's! It's our secret amusement park! If you tell everyone, there will be long lines next time you go! L107ANGEL What are we going to do with him? :confused3

Anyway, all I want to know is did you have some soft raspberry ice cream? We were just camping at Knoebel's last month for 3 days. Had a great time!

I love the fact that there are benches EVERYWHERE you go in the SHADE!!! That being said, if I had to chose, Disney's my choice!!

Ok - first of all, Dude...this place is like top secret and you know that and yet you insist on posting about it publicly. Before you know it, all the New Jersey people will be showing up.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
(oh please forgive me I couldn't resist)

Second, I totally get what you're saying. I mean, WDW has the big stuff, but you can't very well have a family reunion there in a private pavillion without taking out a 2nd mortgage on your house.

I love Knoebels because the kids can take Grandma along and she only has to spend about as much as she can eat. Not even that if we picnic. But we don't have to picnic 'cause the food is even cheap.

Knoebels IS magic because they somehow manage to run a park cleanly, professionally without robbing you of your every last dime. I don't mind spending my money at WDW, but all these other places get on my nerves BAD anymore (Dorney, Hershey, etc.)

My only wish is that they had a couple more good shows (rather than Polka Bob daily on center stage)

***Knoebels-bound this Wednesday with Grandma and Dog riding along for free*****

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: I hate to break it to ya, but when I was there last month there were alot of NY & NJ license plates!

Yup, Grandma stayed back at the motor home while we were in the park! :rotfl: She had a great time eating Smores over the campfire at night.

It's a more relaxing type of vacation & amusement park.
