Okay, what is with this day??:faint: My mom just called and said my dad who was having bloodwork done today to monitor his kidney (he donated one a long time ago to my uncle) is layed out at the Dr.s office now. Apparently they couldn't get his blood, and after repeated attempts he passed out and had a seizure. I guess there is no better place to have this happen then at the Dr.s but kind of scary. He's ok, laying there and wanting to get up and leave but they won't let him right now. :worried:

Wow! You're having a rough day. :sad2:

Again, breath and take it one situation at a time. It sounds like your dad is stable and at least he's with the doctors. ::yes::

Pas: Which smell is it that your DH doesn't like: Poly or GF?

-----------------------

A big :grouphug: to everyone...

I'm holed-up in the hotel here where my hubs is chairing a conference (Michigan State). Feeling a bit ick so hiding away in the room. Poor kiddo's going to wind up going insane stuck here with me! :crazy2: We did head out yesterday and watched the marching band practicing for a bit, good stuff. Half-priced drinks at a place across the street last night, too -- good ol' college towns. :thumbsup2 Now, I know what you're thinking and the half-priced drinks have zero to do with me feeling ick today, HONEST! :rotfl:
He doesn't like GF's smell

Feel better  I am SO ready to get rid of whatever this yuck I have....

Okay I just got off the phone with Disney reservations

POR is now changed to CR, requested room as far away from Chef Mickey as possible so the noise doesn't bother DS.

Added Wedding Gazebo view request to YC and North Wing to the WL :thumbsup2

The CM was super sweet and at the end of the call asked if I had BoG reservations yet, I told her yes but without the CC guarantee so she put me right through to dining. The CM at dining said yes everything is supposed to be okay without the CC guarantee but if she could get me the same time as I had booked she would feel better making a new reservation with the CC. So she looked and said I am sorry I don't have 6pm, but I have a 5:55pm, and laughing asked if I would be okay with the change :lmao:

So that is all done and I am good to go. Now I just have to wait for all the freaking discounts so I can really go :rotfl2:

Melissa

PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cheer2:

Oh Jen

Hopefully it was a vasovagal reaction from all that bloodwork (non successful poking that is)

Or maybe he was fasting and his sugar was low....

I do hope he is OK!!! The passing out is common, seizure activity is subjective, so I do pray he is well! Donated a kidney...WOW!!!

I think he was fasting, and my mom said it had something to do with a nerve they may have hit? Not sure if that even makes sense. :confused3

Jen: Hopefully it's as our wonderful Nurse Pas mentioned: fainting from all the needle-sticking. My hubs does this almost all the time... passes out from the needles and from being dehydrated. Last year, when he did this right before Disney from being dehydrated, I thought it was a seizure so called 911. I'd never witnessed it before and since it looked so bizarre, that's what I thought it was. The docs assured me it wasn't a seizure so I've got my fingers crossed it's the same for your dad. :grouphug: Hoping you get good news...

Pas: :lmao: Oh my, about that smell. Don't kill me... When we went over for the first time last year for an ADR at the tea room, both my hubs and I thought it smelled a bit funky in there. So, we're not alone? :rotfl: I couldn't tell if it was something wafting out from the restaurants or what. :confused3

MM: Didn't you pinky swear? Was that before or after the change to Poly? :rotfl: Generic tickers are the best choice here, clearly! :thumbsup2

Dad and Mom were here, he ate, and they have gone home. He was a little pasty looking but otherwise said he feels better. The nurse at the clinic was trying to take the blood from the top of his hand because she couldn't get it from his arms.
Pas thanks for putting a name to it, I googled it and read just about everything I could and told him. Next time I think he will be laying down for the blood being drawn (they need lots of vials) He has to have blood given twice in the upcoming months to keep an eye on his creatine? levels, and an MRI he is having on his kidney. Sorry for vent!!

Jenny, Glad your Dad is feeling better. My goodness, you've had your share of worries today. Here's hoping you'll have smooth sailing as you count down the days till WDW. :goodvibes

Missoutandabout, I am hoping I'll soon win the laundry war. :rotfl2:.

Babyberger, Too funny about the 6:00 vs 5:55 reservation. That's great you're all set. :thumbsup2

The pinky swear always jinxes things...Candace knows better

I will NEVER forget the scare your DH put you through

I won't kill you for not loving the GF smell ;) Still love ya girl :goodvibes

:cool1: Oh Jen, so glad it was what I thought, and awesome your dad is ok  Power of the RC pixie dustpixiedust:.....so I have to travel to Canada to draw your dad's blood...after stopping at Sheila's to do her DH.....:grouphug:

its all good.

The kiddos shared their germs with you? Awww. Have you been able to get some rest at all? (My ick has culminated in a cold sore the size of Mount Vesuvius. I'm so vain that I've refused to leave the hotel room. :sad2: How lame is that? :scared: )

What exactly is the smell at the Grand Floridian? Is it a floral scent? I distinctly remember roses but mixed with something odd. I'm not sure what I was smelling was what it was supposed to be like. :confused3

You're going to be a busy bee flying around drawing blood. Add my hubs to the list. :thumbsup2 We'll just make sure he's not in a chair with wheels -- like when he forgot to mention to the poor nurses taking his blood for a work physical years and years ago. :lmao:

Ginny: I'm next on laundry duty! Once we get home tomorrow, it's crazy-crazy with Miss M starting kindergarten on Thursday and piles and piles of clothes to clean. :crazy2:

Miss I keep reading the Jan 4th date for taking down decorations, but also that sometimes they are left up longer (especially the Osborne lights). Maybe I will ask Teena over on the BC&YC boards since she is a CM there. Maybe she can find out for us what most of the resorts are planning. Hope you feel better soon and can get out of the hotel room.

Jenny I am glad you got to see your dad. It is scary when they pass out like that. I got a call about a year ago that my dad had passed out in the middle of a haircut and was rushed by ambulance to the ER. When my mom finally got word that he was taken by ambulance and got a ride there (she had just had major surgery and couldn’t drive) she fainted in the middle of the ER. So needless to say I made the hour and half drive to find out what was going on with them. Don’t parents know they are supposed to take care of us, not the other way around. Never be sorry for venting, even though I am a newcomer it seems that this group of ladies if full of love and support :grouphug:

Jeanette I hope you feel better soon!

I told DS(9) that I did make the change from POR to CR and he is very excited. Although he said to me, "doesn't that mean we aren't staying in the Princess room, you know Sarah is going to be upset, so lets not tell her now" :rotfl2: I figure since her bday is the end of April the rates will be higher so that is a better time for POR if that is what she decides to do.

I really wanted to add a trip Labor Day weekend but the weather looks brutal, not that when we go two weeks latter is going to be any better  Although now we are watching a tropical system, so got to keep an eye on that :scared:

Ooooh, thanks! Maybe with the way New Year's falls next year, we'll luck out with the decorations. It would be nice if they left them up through that weekend.

Good luck on breaking the news about no Princess Room! :scared: :rotfl2: We decided not to tell our kiddo about the POR part of our stay. Although, now I'm worried that she'll not want to leave POR when we pack up for the BC. :confused3 :rotfl:

I'm doing my "No Hurricane" dance already. It worked for us last year. Y'all September folks need to join in... :dance3: And if you dance as poorly as I do, all the better. *cue the Elaine-dance moves*

Hello everyone!! :grouphug: Yes, I am still here, so sorry I've been MIA the last few days, I am soooooo behind. I am in our IT building at work doing training on a completely new inmate record management system...the whole governement is going to be changing over....the training is intensive and has been all week so far, one more day left (tomorrow) for now, then another day in November....I am a bit overwhelmed right now! not much time for much else at all.....by the time I get home, it's dinner, watch my favourite show (Master Chef/ Hells Kitchen) then fall into bed for an early start the next day.....I miss chatting with you all! Can hardly wait for my trip....it's only 37 days away :cool1: times racing by, and it will be here before I know it!
Tonight we are FINALLY picking up the new Subaru Forester! What a long wait!! Just glad it's finally here....the finance mgr is a bit of a snob, who really has been most unhelpful ever since I declined the extra protection pkg's ....it's almost like she feels I am wasting her time by talking to me.....she will definitely be NOT getting a positive recommendation from me once this deal is done.....I'll be glad to be done the whole negotiating/ dealership process soon!!! I hate it!
I'll post pics to my FB later, I hope this vehicle is reliable and I don't end up regretting the purchase 7 yrs down the road! (That's how long I have to pay for it due to the bad financing deal we had with our 2010 Ford Escape// which we got rid of for the Forester)....so glad to be saying goodbye to the escape :thumbsup2
Well, class is about to begin again, so I must sign off for now....Miss Y'all!
A very special and belated HAPPY Birthday to our Jeanette! sorry it's late, but it's just as heart felt :flower3:
Marie

I have fallen woefully behind, you are busy for a couple of days and you get pages behind:confused3

Jenny, I just read about the day you had, so so sorry. Hopefully all has settled down and you are relaxing, with perhaps an adult libation in your hand!

pas, so sorry you got the "bug" for your birthday  At least you got the ice cream cake :goodvibes. Hopefully everyone is feeling better!

missoutandabout, who is apparently not living up to her name, sorry about the cold sore :sad1:. I presume you are heading home soon since Miss M is starting kindergarten on Thursday! princess: Is she excited?

chimno2u, yay for the new car :drive:

I don't remember who asked about the Christmas decorations. We were there last year from 12/29 to 1/8. The GF's decorations were the first to be taken down. The Gingerbread House was taken down on 12/30, they needed the space for the dance floor they put down for NYE. When we left however, the BC's (where we were staying the second half of the trip) were still up. I remember thinking it was time to take them down! :santa:

Our friend, Janet rode and survived Tower of Terror today. In fact she was threatening to go on it a second time

KOOK has moved from BLT, which they really liked to her beloved WL. :love:I am sure she and her DH and DD are looking forward to cobbler tonight!

AHHH, the GF smell. Most of you know pas loves the GF, but not sure everyone know that having stayed there, probably 20 times since our first stay in 1988 my love affair with the GF has been going on for many, many years. I love the GF smell, it's the first thing I do when I walk into the lobby off ME is breathe in the smell. I love, love, love it! It is similar to the BC. There have been lots of thread over the years discussing the resort smells, they are piped in and are all distinctive. :goodvibes However, I am sure there are times when a funky smell gets into any lobby...

:wave2: Hi to everyone I have missed!

Marie: Yay for new cars! Congrats! :goodvibes (What colour did you get?) Oh yeah, we get that from the finance people with every car we buy; it must be part of their annoying shtick. :rolleyes2

Sarah: :rotfl: So true, I am definitely NOT living up to my screen name today. Maybe in the cover of darkness, I'll get brave. :tiptoe: (It looks like I've been popped in the lip.) Miss M's getting excited and so am I! (I will not cry, I will not cry...) Her first "day" is actually a "Meet and Greet" which we attend with her, so we can meet her teacher.

Yay sharing for those updates! Was that Janet's first ToT ride?! I think we might have a brave enough 5 year old to test it out this year. Maybe! I wonder if BLT has made it to Kook's shortlist now? :scratchin

Regarding those resort smells, I'm reserving final judgement on my GF opinion once I've been in again; I think something was "off" that day we were there. I'm always reminded of the Poly when I smell tropical flowers and chlorine. (For some reason our YMCA smells just like the Poly! :lmao: ) I did manage to find some wax tarts which smell like the Beach Club; I'll have to get those out and get in a Disney mood when we get home. :beach:

So sorry everyone, I was so caught up in my own day...I didn't respond to anyone else!!

Miss: I just saw those cups...I love them!! I am sensing some big time shopping on this trip! I know what you mean about kindergarden, my youngest starts too...I am happy for her but...well you know.:sad1:

Sarah: Thanks for the well wishes for my dad, he went home and had a great rest according to my mom after they were here and I fed him.

Marie: Congrats on the new car coming tonight!! Love that new car smell. (even though i am sure it's not good for you!)

Melissa: Whoa, that sounds like a scary situation with your parents too. It is hard to accept they are getting older, but then there are times like today when it just hits you hard.

Candace: Thanks for all your good thoughts today....

Pas: Hope you are feeling better soon....::yes::

I am happy to hear JanetB was brave and did ToT...I still am too chicken to try that one! I wonder how Kook is enjoying WL???:goodvibes

I am def doing the no hurricane dance!!! Although my kids hope for them, it's funny how I grew up with snow days and my kids have hurricane days. Have to keep my eye on Isaac, looks like it may be a threat for FL.

Enjoy the new car!!!! I hate the whole car shopping process too!!! I got lucky in March and the dealer called me and made us an offer we couldn't walk away from. Best and easiest car buying ever!
