Will try not to write a novel.... Stayed at the BC (again) this past August - this was our first time going at the time of year and we didn't mind the heat and had a great time. So much so, that from the moment we got back, i started pricing out options for another possible trip next August. Here's the issue and where everything has pretty much gone to hell: 1. My oldest DD recently turned 18 and now I notice the higher pricing for the "extra adult" - pricing at the BC for the amount of time we want to go again (10 days) is almost $500 more :scared1:. 2. This same DD started college in late August and 3 weeks into school, had to have emergency appendectomy surgery...she's fine, thank GOD, it was scary, we got thru it but now that I'm starting to receive all the OOP costs associated with the surgery, I'm about to throw up , yet I know it could be so much worse. Here's my dilemma: I would love to stay deluxe again, but with all the extra costs heading my way, not sure it makes sense that I spend the extra money, could I do it? yes, but do I really want to? not quite sure. I decided to take a family poll & asked more days in a moderate? or less days in a deluxe? Both my teen girls said downgrade for more days and my DH actually agreed with them, which I was surprised. If I do go Moderate (and the price for the "extra adult" is not so huge), I'm torn between CSR (which we loved) and POR (which we've never tried but have visited several times) - family is not sold on POR for some reason. In the Delx category, I've priced out BC, AKL and WL (WL was everyone's least favorite b/c no one liked the look of the rooms). AKL and WL were both cheaper than BC but still high. I'm so confused :confused3... and to be honest, may be way overthinking this whole thing. Now that I think about it, I may really need therapy and not help :upsidedow... any thoughts? Suggestions? WWYD?

Why does Disney have so many wonderful choices? Especially for us with commitment issues? :scratchin

I know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So what is my friend Candace thinking today...:goodvibes

:welcome: Have you seen the WL refurbbed rooms??? :flower3: Usually August brings a discount too..so watch for that. POR is quite a beautiful resort which gets great reviews....Is a split stay doable???

As someone who started with May 2012 booked Poly/GF..and stayed at Pop/RPR (Universal)....let me say the possibilities are endless...if we can't help you here...we can at least understand, support, and enable :flower3:

Ummmm, definitely sounds like you are thinking...are you second guessing WL already :scared:

I just don't know.....ugh....DH was yapping last night how I shouldn't go in January...blah blah blah...:furious: Too close to Christmas....save money....:duck:

It didn't end well....but I am not cancelling January...

Sorry to hear that you and DH aren't seeing eye to eye on Disney right now :sad1: It is definitely a tough time of year because of the holidays and the spending that brings, but just tell him you will have a time to save back up before the summer trips start. Plus that is what credit cards are for

It's hard not to overthing the whole thing, I am guility of it too. I think Pas may have the perfect compromise with a split stay (if that is an option for you)! We have stayed at POR, Riverside and FQ and really honestly did like them both! We weren't fans of CSR but I just think we had a bad experience. The other thing to do is figure out what you are comfortable with a budget and then figure out where you can find some extra Disney funds....do you have a Disney Visa or another credit card that you could earn points towards airfare? We charge EVERYTHING and pay it off every month and instead of taking cash back on the cards, we use it as a little savings acct for our traveling. In the past two months we have racked up over $600 in Disney reward dollars.

Try not to stress too much and play out a few different scenarios and see which ones you and your family seem most comfortable with.

Hope everyone is having a great day!

Hi everyone! :wave2: Thank you so much for all the BIRTHDAY WISHES :goodvibes

I came back with a couple of health issues, saw the oncologist this morning and we put together a good plan...that shouldn't affect January WDW! (let's get our priorities straight) I did find out I lost 7 lbs on vacation. Need to rectify that during the holiday season and January WDW! KOOK, nightly cobbler should help...plus serving or two of chocolate molten lava cake from CG, or maybe the chocolate sampler! :confused3 I wouldn't wish this disease on anyone, but how fun is it for the first time I can remember I can eat and happily put on weight!?? (I am always looking for the silver lining...)

Jenny, how's my little friend doing? Don't like the sound of a mean lunch lady for her. Tell her, (and the other girls) Sarah says "hi" :wave2:AND I am loving hearing about a "kidless" trip for you and your DH in February. You two will have such a good time! Adults only at WDW is really wonderful.

MISS, anytime you want to talk about swimming let me know. My older daughter wasn't that coordinated (T-Ball was painful :duck:), however once she got in the water she was in her element! She ended up being a very good competitive swimmer.

pas, I may have to have a talk with your DH....a personal nurse may be just what I need in January ;) He is not allowed to think about taking January away!

Getting excited anticipating January discounts next week!!!

To everyone I missed, :wave2: and HAPPY FRIDAY...AND IT'S A 3 DAY WEEKEND FOR MANY!!!

So sorry you had to come home to more health issues :( Looking for the silver lining is always key to fighting any disease!!! Keep looking forward to all those cobblers and molten lava cakes :) HUGS!!!

A quick hello and :grouphug: to all of my pals...

And an extra  to our Sarah. There's always a silver lining to be found -- especially when there's chocolate involved. :goodvibes Chocolate and cobbler. That'd be a tough choice. :scratchin Thanks for letting me pester you about swimming, I'll send off a message when I can sort out my thoughts. :upsidedow

Kinda a wrench in the works for the January trip; seems my parents won't be coming after all, even though my mom really wants to -- my dad is being a pain. It all boils down to whether my brother and his family can make it and that'll be the deciding factor on if we still go or not. No big deal really, I can always CHANGE! :thumbsup2 I will be crying over not getting that King cupcake though...

I'm on my phone, so this will be brief :)

Happy belated to Sarah!

It was great to meet Lacey, Marie and Ginny on Wednesday!!! Such wonderful ladies!! I snuck off to ASMovies to grab to-go dinner for DH and I afterwards, lol. I was craving the London Broil! I told Marie to hurry back to their upgraded room for fireworks... I hope they made it!

I'm off Sat, Sun, Mon so we have lots of park time planned, and Boma breakfast on Sunday!

Who's next to arrive?? After this weekend, I'm off the next 2 Mondays/Tuesdays!

Missing everyone and missing RCing!

I haven't seen the new pics of WL rooms but would love to. I also wouldn't mind a split stay nor do the kids but DH is less than thrilled with having to move once we are settled. Although, he is outnumbered in our house so if we pushed it, he'd give in :). As for my budget, I know the amount I would LIKE to spend but I just feel bad if I go over b/c of the amount of $$ I'll be spending on other things. UGH....I think I am the problem b/c I really can't make up my mind this time.

Okay so now that I have moved our Feb trip to Jan, I have lost our BoG dinner resie :( Of course there is no dinner availability for the 4 nts we are there, so hopefully something will open up or we will at least do lunch one day there.

But I am staring at my Jan dates and at a loss for ADR's or even a plan of attack for meals. I guess since we have never stayed for more than a night or two I really don't know what to expect from our days either. And for us Floridians it will probably be too cold to swim so not really planning on pool time.

Let me back up by saying that our Oct and Dec plans already look similar to each other so I am trying to change it up but I don't know how. We have a LTT lunch and a TE dinner booked for each of those trips. Keep in mind, no character meals, no overly loud or musically themed meals as well due to DS. And we aren't really breakfast people so I am not worried about that at all.

Do I even try to plan this out or just go with the flow :confused3

:welcome: to our RC home :) First, very happy to hear your DD recovered well from her surgery.:)

I noticed you said "we loved CSR" ... why don't go ahead and book CSR? It is a very nice resort, great pool for teens, and centrally located (extra adult fee is $15). Or as our RC Queen Pas, said, why not a split stay?? Maybe CSR then a few nights at your BC?? or another deluxe you all have wanted to try.

Whatever you do, know we will all be along for the ride!! :goodvibes

TGIF Peeps!! :cool1:

Melissa … so glad to hear you are feeling more up to speed! That’s great news and no MIL this weekend. :woohoo:

Deena: :wave2: We miss you too!! How great it was to be able to meet up with Lacey, Ginney & Marie!! Any pictures?? :) Have fun this weekend!! It's a little sad for me as this was the weekend that we were looking to do our long weekend for the HP and to meet you all ... sigh ...too much family stuff... next time. :)

Pas: We need you for January …you’re also on call for our Sarah, remind DH of that. :goodvibes

Ginny: Know you are probably having an awesome time! Party 'til you drop at PFTS!!:banana:

MM & Miss: Between you two with your Arachnid Attacks, :scared1:I’m steering clear of the mailbox …it’s DH’s job. :)

Miss: My DD (and me) have been in Girl Scouting for years, it’s a great organization and a lot of fun. Hope it works out for you both. :goodvibes

Sarah
: You always inspire me with you positive thinking …. Big hugs to you my friend.

MM …. Congrats on WL CL … (oh, it STILL is WL CL, right?? :upsidedow) And DD will come to appreciate and love her part in the play! We all expect a picture!! She will rock the bunny fairy role!!:banana:

hmmm now that you told DD, does that mean it's a pinky swear ... no RCing??? :rotfl2:

Everything that I've missed, a big hello to! Enjoy the weekend all!!

Update....I just asked my parents about February straight up, and they said YES!!!!!:cool1: I am so thankful they are supporting us for some time alone again!! We may book tonight, the airfare is reasonable right now!:goodvibes

Ponder these....:good vibes

I've got some more I can add when I get home if you need...but the rooms are really nice!

Wow...so much brighter and nicer with the new linens....definitely have to show them this later.

I definitely need to price out a split stay. One of my biggest issues I think I'm having with a Moderate right now is that with August being so hot, I like the idea of having more indoor walking time. I'm going to price a couple of new options throwing WL in the mix as well

Awesome Jen!! :cool1: So sorry ... meant to quote you ...I'm thrilled your mom is making it possible for you and DH to have your trip to Disney! Go for it!! Book the airfare!! And POP it is for now, right? :hippie:
