FRIDAY, Feb 20th! Getting Ready. Really Ready.
I took the day off from work today to bring Monty to Best Friends Pet Resort. He'd stayed there a few times before, for weekends, and we feel safe leaving him there for 10 days. As always, he is excited to be get there , runs right up to the girl who works there and I was on my way. Best Friends is expensive, but IMO, well worth it for the peace of mind.
Next I finished up packing for Chris and I and waited. And waited. And waited. Waiting was downright awful. Around mid day my fear of flying really struck me hard. Luckily some fellow DISers were able to calm me down. Thanks guys!
Then, I get a call from Chris! His boss is going to let him leave a little early to catch an earlier train. Yay! I got to pick him up at the station. Then we finish our packing , check everything at home and head to my parents who live in Weymouth, MA, where we will be leaving our car.
My parents take us to their favorite place Grille on the Pond (very yummy!) for dinner and then take us into Boston to the airport hotel. We are SO 12 hours away from almost landing in Orlando!!! The airport hotel is nice, but I couldn't really take it in, as I was just too excited to be going back to WDW. An early night and I go to dream of Disney...
SATURDAY, Feb 21st! All the Planning Comes Down to This! (alternate title : Um, Hey Jude??)
The hotel airport shuttle is great. It's on time and gets us there quickly. Staying here was a great idea. I highly recommend it to anyone in the Boston area who has an early morning flight. We are flying first class on American, thanks to my moms frequent flyer miles, and thus, we have no wait for check in, and no real wait at security. We get through security fine and then head to get some food and I take my anti-anxiety pills to help me on the flight. They must have worked because before I knew it, I was standing in another airport, just mere miles from Mickey!
Really our flight was great. The only problem was that the bratty children in front of me kept banging their seat into mine. I have no idea what they were doing, but if they were mine children, I would have stopped them. He just kept, like, throwing himself against his seat because he liked the banging sound. How annoying! I don't fully understand why this family decided to fly their entire family first class. The whole section was pretty much just children under the age of 12. Anyway, the flight attendant finally came over and yelled at the brat and he stopped banging. Actually, Chris said something to him at one point too. The kids dad was sitting right there and just ignored the whole ordeal.
Oh well.
We take a shuttle to the Thrifty car lot. Chris upgrades to a Grand Am. It was pretty nice. The only decidedly frightening thing about the car (aside from the long wait in line to get it) was the fact that as we turned on the radio, we note that Hey Jude is playing.
We like this song so we stay on the channel as we head (around 1 PM) to the Magic Kingdom. About forty five minutes later, we are parking at the TTC and Chris notes that Hey Jude is actually STILL playing. It's not a cd. It's really just the radio. Weird.
Getting to MK earlier than we planned, we immediately looked for the quickest line in Fantasyland. Snow Whites Scary Adventures now holds a special place as our first Disney ride. Wheee! Then we got a FP for Philharmagic and went on Pooh. We had a bit of a wait for Pooh but it went quick. And Philharmagic....WOW! By the time our early dinner rolled around we had done all of Fantasyland!
I has PS at CRT at 5, but they let us in early. Our whole meal was great. We were also back out in the park by 6. We spent the rest of the evening circling the parks. Nothing had lines! We went on every attraction at MK except Splash Mountain (we didn't want to get wet yet!) and a handful of others (nothing major!) that we would hit on Wednesday. We even hit COP, Buzz & Space Mountain.
All in all it was a GREAT first day. We got to so much more than I thought we would! But then...
As we went back to our car, we note that Hey Jude is still on....Um??? Have we entered some sort of crazy Beatles Twilight Zone??
Tune in to Sunday to find out!
Okay, so then we get scared , change the channel and discover an 80's channel. Cool! We listen to that as we head home to High Pointe. Wow! Chris check in and it takes all of 2 minutes. We have a great unit right in front and it's huge! Coolest place I have ever stayed. 2 floors! It also has a huge patio and is right next to the pool. (We aren't pool people, but it was still nice). Chris goes to get some snacks across the street and we get ready for Day 2!!
