sheraton vistana

Hello peachpat! All I can tell you is my parents are there right now and LOVE it, we will be staying there this upcoming week. Do a search on these boards for "Sheraton Vistana" and you will find tons of posts full on info about the resort! :D

Hi peachpat! What kind of information are you asking for specifically? We've stayed at this resort many times and I HIGHLY recommend it! I could probably help you with pretty much any kind of info you're looking for.

I was wondering how far away is this resort from the disney resorts and is there restaurants close bye? also we are renting a car.

peachpat, I know that the Disney parks are just minutes away from the resort - I'm not sure the exact mileage, maybe somebody else could answer that for you.

There are 3 restaurants right at the resort - "The Flamingo Cafe", "Cascades Bar and Grill" and "Zimmies". There is also a "Pizza Hut"as well. I'm sure threeboysmom could tell you what other restaurants are nearby since she has visited there a few times! I myself cannot wait to get there! :teeth:

peachpat, you will enjoy visiting Vistana resort. It is 10 minutes to Downtown Disney using SR-535 and Hotel Plaza Blvd. It is another 10 minutes to the Disney Resorts from DTD.

There are more restaurants close by than you can name easily. The car rental is a good idea.

Vistana? Is the biggest unit a 2 bedroom? I really need a 3 bdrm because we're coming with 2 children and my mom and can't really have any of them sleeping on a pull out.

Thanks.

Vistana is VERY close to Disney. When you turn out of Vistana you are within a few feet of an intersection that puts you directly on the highway that leads to the parks. It takes about 10-15 minutes total depending on which park, to get to the parking lot.
Vistana is gorgeous. Has 7 pools, 8 hot tubs. Very clean, well kept, and lots to do.
Yes, the biggest they have is a 2 bedroom, but some will sleep up to 8 people.

As to restaurants - within a 15 minute radius is just about every chain restaurant (and non-chain) imaginable! You will NOT go hungry that's for sure. We found the restaurants onsite at Vistana to be somewhat lacking so we tend to drive offsite since we always have a car with us.

As to Disney resorts/parks - there is actually two ways to get onto Disney property from Vistana.

1) Take a left out of Vistana onto Rt. 535 and then another left to enter Downtown Disney area (this is the way you'd go if you wanted to visit Port Orleans or Car. Beach, for example)

2) Take a right out of Vistana onto Rt. 535 and then another right onto Rt. 536. This is a SUPER EASY way to get to the parks with no traffic & it only takes 8-10 minutes. This would give you access to all the resorts in the Epcot area, MK area, etc. as well.

Thank you everyone for the information on the sheraton vistana resort. It has been very helpful. I do have another question about the resort . I have read that there is an older section of the resort and that it is somewhat run down. How can you make sure that you do not get a room in that area? also since I don't have a timeshare will I automatically get a room in that section?

Thank you everyone for the information on the sheraton vistana resort it has been very helpful. I do have a couple of questions. I have heard that there is an older section and that it is somewhat run down. Is there any way that you can make sure that you do not get a room in this section?. Also I do not own a time share is it required to own one in order to get a better room in the nicer sections?.

peachpat, go to the Sheraton Vistana Resort home page and click on "Diamond Lane" at the bottom. There, you may request certain sections. Cascades and Lakes are the newest ones. Courts is the oldest. HTH.

peachpat, the Courts section is not "run down" in my opinion. We have been in that section and do not think that there was any problem with the villa we were in.

I like the Cascades section and the Lakes section too. But the Courts was not "run down".

We've only stayed in older sections of the resort. This includes Courts which is the absolute oldest section. Neither section we have stayed in (I'm not sure of the other right now) has been run down, IMHO. My grandparents have very high standards when it comes to quality, cleanliness and upkeep, and they have been thrilled with every unit they have stayed in at the Vistana. And they have never been in a new unit either. They continue to go back and so do we. Being in an older unit should not be considered a curse. Most of the units have been newly refurbished, and even if they haven't they have been very well kept up. I've known people that have gone there since '94, and they have no complaints.

Has anyone gone thru expedia.com to purchase a package at sheraton vistana?. They seem to have a good deal that includes airfare, hotel and car rental.
