Sheraton Vistana Villages or Resort

We stayed at the Villages in December. Great pools, nice units close to shopping and WDW. Had friends stay at the Vistana Resort who loved it, it has some units that have been refurbished and are very nice. We drove by the Resort and it looked like sone building were closed for renovations.

Stayed in a 2 bedroom at the villages last year. Didn't hate it. Didn't love it. Unit was like new! Big resort so fair walk to pools but we had horrible weather so I think we didn't get to enjoy as much.

Would I book it again? Not given all of the other choices out there. We are trying Marriott Grande Vista this year (next week) and we've tried Floridays. I also want to try Bonnet Creek one of these trips.

stayed there in July 2008 and said never again. Stayed on BIL timeshare.
the grounds were beautiful.
We had an un-renovated room...the carpet was frayed and torn, the walls were dirty.
Had to wash our own towels and empty garbage cans (I think this is a timeshare thing, though, not specific to this resort). I didn't appreciate having to do these things on holidays...
The one pool we went to one evening - it had a net for water volleyball or something - was disgusting. My son and I jumped in and when we came up noticed that there were many, many small bugs (like flying ants or something) floating in the water...I got them in my hair, everywhere. Gross.

Too many other nicer places to stay. Won't go back here.
Though the marketplace was fabulous.

Can't decide...any thought or opinions??

I just posted a response to this question here:

We've stayed at both and now own a week at SVR, so my opinion is obvious. There is more to do at the bigger Resort, and I like the older sections as they provide a little more room to spread out.

Sorry to hear about Mabel67's bad experience, but that would be more the exception than the rule. Also, there is only one section remaining to be renovated and it will be complete by August - you have a better than 95% chance now of being in a renovated unit (100% chance if you are staying in a one bedroom). Everything else is shiny and new!

We're trying to narrow down our July stay between the villages and Floridays. Not to hijack the thread, but can you tell me your thoughts of Floridays?
Thanks!:)

Between Sheraton and Floridays we'd pick Sheraton for the simple fact there is more to do. Units are equally nice. But Floridays offers no poolside activities or kids club or really anything other than the pool, bar, and cafe style counter service quick dining with a small shop for groceries. No volleyball, basketball, restaurant. What they did have was nice but not like Vistana Villages. They are right across the road from each other FYI.

I should add that I think I hears they added a theme swimming section (pirate ship) so if they have now included all that was lacking, I'd say they are equal.
