I have a week in SVR in Sept. After much research, I have narrowed it down to 2 areas that I would like to request, Falls or Cascades.

Both are suppose to be designated areas on our arrival day, so I am hoping we get one or the other.

I like the slide at the Falls pool and the screened in balconies, but it seems father away from other activities like the game room, etc. and maybe not a lively as the Cascades area??? Kids would like the slide, but is it too laid back for a 15, 13 and 10 yr old? I plan on spending one day at the resort and not hitting any parks or attractions, but kids would like some more excitement I'm sure. :)

Can anyone, who has stayed in either section, give me the pros or cons of each area?

TIA, lori

With out a doubt FALLS! It is not that far away from the super pool, and there are weight rooms etc. Ask for hte top floor there are only two floors and ask for newly renovated I think they are all newly reonvated and they are beautiful. If you ask for the second floor you should have a sky light too.
I have been in both and the Cascades is a high rise and you need to use the elevator. In the Falls you are in units of 4 two down and two up. We have been there many times and we loved the Falls even before it was reonovated.

The Fountains are also great! They have a nice pool with a waterfall.

ETA the units at the Falls are bigger than the Cascades or Lakes too.

Do the Cascades also have the screened in balconies? Is the super pool in the Cascades area?

Actually, I was looking at the floor plans on the Starwood website and the floor plan I like the best in for the Lakes, followed by Cascades, didn't like the Falls.

However, if the floor plans are not accurate, guess I shouldn't use that as a criteria for the area to request. :)

We were there a few weeks ago, Cascades, Bld 12. It was right across from the big pool/activity area/pool bar. Awesome. We requested top floor-had the skylight and high ceilings! The balcony was screened in overlooking a pond/fountain area. Very quiet. Our 2 bdr was the same layout as the 'floorplan' on the website.

Cascades has screened in balconies. There is also a great pool in that area as well as a recreation center. It's also fairly close to the general store (though the Pizza Hut has been moved to the Falls section). There's always a lot going on there, and if you walk by the event center at night you can often hear the lively time happening inside. We love Cascades.

But honestly, you can't go wrong either way. Enjoy!

Are the 1BRs only in Cascades or Lakes?

If so, which is best? Have all the 1BRs been renovated?

Also, does anyone know where I can find a map of the grounds?

Thanks!

We stayed in the falls in April and LOVED it - from the Falls pool you walk feet to the Courts pool then a few more feet to the kids center, mini golf, and the Springs super pool and Zimmies restaurant... nothing is that far from each other. And I loved our huge screen porch and I loved how QUIET it was...after a day in the parks it was so relaxing!

I've stayed at the Cascades twice (both prior to rennovations) and the Falls three times (once prior to rennovations and twice since rennovations). I think you'll love either section. I know that all the units in the Falls have been renovated. The renovated units are really nice everywhere at this resort. The landscaping is excellent all over too, and activities are plentiful everywhere. Last March the Cascades rennovation was in progress, but is probably done by now. If they are still doing rennovations, I'd prefer to stay somewhere where no rennovations are going on instead. Our teens really enjoy this resort too.

We have a Getaway with Interval and have a 6/8/2, which I believe means 2 bedroom, sleeps six privately, and 8 max.

Would the Falls section fall under this category? or can all areas handle this configuration?

thx, lori

We had the 6/8/2 set-up also, at Cascades...I think they are all set up that way since the renovations. (Instead of 2 twin beds in the 2nd bdr, it's 2 dbl beds)

I'm fairly certain that the Falls 2BR villas have a sleep maximum of 6 (2/6/6 - #BR/Private/Maximum). Cascade villas are 2/6/8. Go to this Vistana Resort link http://www.starwoodvacationownership.com/sheraton_vistana_resort/welcome.jsp and click on the Villas link to see the various line drawings of villas for the various sections.

Note that there are two different 2BR configurations in Cascades - one that's a dedicated 2BR and one that's part of a lock-out unit. One of these is bigger than the Falls 2BRs and one is smaller.

I can't answer specifically about Cascades, but I believe most if not all of the renovated units have an LCD tv in the living room.
