Sheraton Sand Key resort in Clearwater Beach

My family and I have never stayed there, however we went to look around it and we did not like it. It felt very cold and we also felt like one of the security guards was watching everything we did.

We always stay at the Clearwater Beach Marriott Suites on Sand Key which is across the street from the Sheraton and in our opinion it's a much nicer place to stay.

I stayed there for a confereence a few years ago. It had a really nice pool area, was right on the lovely beach but it definitely felt like a convention hotel. there were other very large hotels next to it as well.

Best place to stay in Clearwater/Sand Key. Right on the beach at Sand Key - which is a top ten U.S. beach.

Not swanky, but clean and friendly with a lovely (small) pool and excellent places to eat.

Think I would be happy as a guest that security kept an eye on visitors!
It is the ONLY hotel on the beach - all the other buildings are Condo's.

Well maybe part of the reason we felt like they were watching us is because we said we were staying at the Marriott across the street and we just wanted to look around the Hotel for a few minutes. I agree it's good to have security however if there going watch everyone like they are criminals, I would not want to stay there.

Have stayed there twice and LOVED it!!! The private beach is huge, clean and very enjoyable. Pool area was great. I would definitely recommend it

We just stayed there a couple of weeks ago. We loved it! Keep in mind though, we spent our entire time at the beach. The beach is not crowded at all and we enjoyed the fact that it is a little bit of a walk away from the hotel. I thought this kept the noise factor down.

There is a person on an ATV that will come around and take drink/food orders at the beach for you. A little pricey, but a nice feature to have.

If you are looking for a good place to eat at night. Salt Rock Grill!!!! It is a 10 minute drive and they have GREAT seafood at a reasonable price.

A restaurant that my family and I always go to is Shells Seafood Restaurant and there is one right in Clearwater Beach that is 5-10 seconds away from the Sheraton. To find just drive over the bridge and you will see it on the right hand side, so you can't miss it.

Another place we enjoy is PJ's Oyster Bar, which is located in Indian Rocks Beach Florida and is 10 -15 minutes aaway from the Sheraton.

Personally, I prefer the Marriott as well. Even though the Sheraton is on the beach, I like having the two room suite at the Marriott for the same, or sometimes less, money. The two hotels are almost right across the street from each other (the Sheraton is across the street from the Marriott's parking lot) so it's not a big deal to walk to the beach. However, there is also a shuttle if you don't want to walk.

Personally, I prefer the Marriott as well.
My family and I will be at the Marriott next month before we arrive in WDW and we will be there again this coming December after our week in WDW.

Actually we have been staying there every year since August 1997, way back when they were the Radisson Suites Resort On Sand Key.

Shells is a chain restaurant, good food. the one at Sand Key is unique because they offer 'dive in' movies right on the beach during the year.

have dinner, go out to the beach, plop down a towel and and enjoy.

Personally my family and I prefer the Shells that is located in Redington Beach.

A short stroll up the boardwalk from the Marriott pool leads you to a great family run bistro called Backwaters.

Fantastic views over the bay, beautiful seafood and steaks. Be there in a couple of weeks - can't wait!

Just back...had an awesome time!

The hotel was great, we would recommend and hope to go back again.

We ate one night at the Daquiri Deck, about 10 miles or so south of the hotel, twice at Crabby Bill's, once a few miles south of the hotel and the second time at the one by Pier 60. Also ate in the hotel, had room service for breakfast twice (30 minutes or its free) and ran to Dunkin Donuts for bagels next to the Marriott.

We liked that the beach was a bit of a walk from the pool deck, I know some people didn't like that. The people working down by the beach were very nice and there was even a girl in a cart taking drink and food orders so you didn't have to go back to the pool bar. The older gentleman working in the hut were you rent the chairs and umbrellas was very nice to talk to. We rented a jet ski for 1/2 hr which was alittle pricey but well worth it, something we've never done before.

My husband and daughter did get VERY burnt from the sun even with lots of SPF50 so be careful. The sun was brutal this week.
