I've got it. I'm going to the Polynesian Concierge in December. My allergy is noted on our reservation - but I was reading on allearsnet.com that the lounge menu often contains sushi. Does anyone know if the sushi is vegetarian or with crab and shimp and stuff that will kill me LOL???

I would call the Poly Concierge to get this information...or at least verify when you get there.
Good luck!

I would call the Poly/Concierge specifically.

My 1+ yo has allegies to dairy, nuts (tree & peanut), some beef & some egg.

I emailed Disney & they emailed me back the numbers to call for all the parks (it is a pre-typed email so not person specific).

I finally called last week or the week before & talked to Brenda (I think she works in EPCOT). She forwarded me a few attachements with some info & told me some other info.

She said all places have a card to read the ingredients & all the counter service places have a separate area to cook for people with food allergies.

She also sent an email to the Poly & the places we have PS/ADR's for.

Chef Mickey's chef actually called me and asked me some questions. I went to call CRT but it was Brenda who answered the phone & she said I didn't have to call anyone just let them know when I got there-plus it is on my reservation.

If you like sushi, I am sure they will make you a special order.

Good luck, stay safe & bring your epipen!

Thanks monorailsilver! I'll stay outta Fulton's Crab Shack too LOL!

I know your pain. I am highly allergic to shellfish too. I told them it was okay to tell me not to eat at any of the places I was talking about. Dining gave me the telephone numbers of the restaurants I had planned to eat at, and I was told to call the day before to talk to the chef. I was also told to remind them when I checked in. I was even able to safely eat at Teppanyaki with my family. At Boma, the chef walked me through all the stations. I was pretty safe everywhere else. Good luck. Happy eating.

The menu at the concierge lounge changes daily. I think they only serve sushi on one night (I think on Mondays), but that could change. I'm also allergic to shrimp and for the few times we were able to partake of the lounge at that time, I've never had the sushi. The food at the lounge is not meant to replace a meal - just a nice appetizer to tide you over until your evening meal.
I would check at the lounge and find out if any of the offerings (any night) have seafood.

My mom has this issue, also. She is always careful to check with the staff, who are exceptionally accommodating - they don't want any incidents, either! Lots of folks have allergies to something - Disney deals with this extremely well.

Thanks everyone! Glad to know I'm not alone. :flower:

I'm allergic to all fish & shellfish. Disney is very good to work you to make sure you are safe. In a conversation with a waitress at the Luau a few years ago, I was told that all Disney servers are trained about allergies & that Disney had had allergists consult with their chefs. Just inform them of your allergy - you may not be able to eat all of the selections at the lounge, but I would expect that if they know of your allergy & when you are going to be there they will help you make safe choices. At the restaurants, a chef will frequently come out to visit with you.
