shelf life of cranberries

I feel like I should know this...I grew up in SE Massachusetts right next to a cranberry bog...but how long do cranberries keep in the fridge? I bought a bag yesterday...$.99 at Aldi..and I forgot something and had to go back to the store and today they are 2 for $1.00. Can you freeze them?? I might just have to make some cranberry bread for those prices.

I have frozen cranberries before, as its tough to find them around here unless its the holiday time. I LOVE homemade cranberry sauce! anyways, they worked well for cranberry sauce. Just defrosted and cooked as normal.

I always buy a few extra bags and freeze them, to make cranberry bread with during the summer. Works great!

My father in law picks them every year and ends up with GALLONS in his freezer - they're still perfectly fine for cooking a year or more later (in the deep freezer) - definitely six months in a regular freezer, I would say...

Yeah, my parents have bogs and my mom keeps cranberries in the freezer for a year sometimes longer.

Also, they usually store up to 1,000 lbs of fresh berries in their barn until about Christmas time before Dad dumps what ever they haven't frozen or given away out in the woods, which translates into regular folks being able to keep a couple of bags of fresh berries out in their garage for almost the same amount of time. Dad's have the vines still in them so they last a little longer.
