She said it wouldn't be boring!-WONDER WB Caribbean cruise - Bonus Posts Wrap up

Very nice pirate outfits that night. The Pirate Buffet looks very interesting and appetizing. The party deck looks nice and also very busy. The fireworks pictures look great.

I really love your pirate outfits! So cool! I love the photos from the pirate night feast. On our 1st cruise on Wonder, we didn't know about the pirate night feast. So on our 2nd cruise on fantasy, I told DH about it. We were so tired with the kids that we just chilled in our awesome stateroom! Someday!

The MDR pirate night menus don't look appealing so I totally understand about going to palo (I'm sure that's what we did last time!). Glad you got to experience it!

By the way, I want to take advantage of the rainforest room. When we are able to splurge in the future, I'd love to do the couples massage. Seen it on previous TR's & they look amazing!

Can't wait to year more about your adventures!

You and Fran look fabulous in your pirate gear! pirate:

I'm glad you tried everything at least once, now you know what you'll be missing. Even though the food in the MDR isn't the best we love seeing the servers all dressed up and in the spirit. I love that you tried the buffet popcorn::

OH.MY.GOODNESS you two are just darling. You look so amazing and Fran looks like a picture of health. It is so good to see the two of you having so much fun.

I am loving this trip report. Just love it!!

You make two fine looking pirates. I have to admit I can barely remember what the Pirate Night menu is like as it is so long since we did this. I have yet to check out the Pirate Night Buffet. Still that may change next year. We are hoping to cruise with Sue and her husband next year and he will want to check out the buffet so I may come along. The fireworks photos are great.

Your costumes are GREAT!

What happened in Lake Tahoe??

I totally agree with you about the menus for Pirate Night. They just seemed off to me on our very first cruise, so we skipped it the next cruise for Palo.

Love the costumes, you two look great! :thumbsup2 Glad you got to experience Pirate Night at least once. Weren't those crepes to die for? :lovestruc

I liked the Pirate Night menu. I agree with Pam, it's so fun to have the servers all dressed up. Arjay, our assisstant server, danced with Joshua on ours which was really fun.

And no, I may never finish my cruise report. :rotfl2: ;)

Love love love the photos! Your outfits are great! The pirate night is fun but the menu needs to walk the plank. I vote for normal dining that night with the food but keep the pirate theme. Palo def but nice that you hit the buffet I didn't know they did that. The crepes look beyond yummy.
Oh my that monkey. That would freak me out lol.

Looks like a great evening nice photos of fireworks!

You and Fran look fantastic in your pirate gear. :thumbsup2

Thanks! After all that, there was not one picture of my boots! I took the outfit to the tailor to hem the skirt so that the boots would show and not one picture where the boots were in it!

The food looks good from where I'm sitting. Shame that you didn't like the main dining room food. I guess you'll know to do the buffet next time.

I’m not saying that the food wasn’t any good, just that if I have to pick one of the menus to “skip out on to go to Palo”, Pirate night is the best candidate. The other MDR nights are far superior to this menu.

The party on deck seems crowded. I would have found a quiet and safe spot as well. Nice fireworks, though!

Thanks, I have to get myself a tripod (well bring one of the two or three that I have) and start to really work on the trails. Your pictures in your latest update were beautiful as were your DH’s. I need to try longer exposure times at a lower ISO so the frame doesn’t over expose, but I need the tripod if I’m going to be using the longer exposure time so as not to jostle the camera. I don’t want to depend on a trash can!

Love your pirate outfits! I agree that the MDR pirate menu isn't the greatest. Good plan to do Palo early next time! Those crepes do look good...I can never make it to the buffet...I'm always stuffed too!

Yeah of all the varying menus, Pirate night is the one I like the least. I need to find out what is the deal for my Dream Cruise in April. I like crepes and in the past, the only way I’ve had them is when I’ve made them myself.

:scratchin That reminds me, I have a wonderful recipe for seafood crepes in Mornay sauce that I haven’t made in years. Note to self: put on menu when we are done moving!

Fantastic pirate outfits and pictures. I've never hit the pirate buffet either and the last cruise we watched the fireworks from our balcony.

Thanks! On our Magic Cruise, I tried to watch them from the balcony and all I did was “hear” them. I did go up to the top deck on our previous cruise and watch, Fran went back to the room that time.

I like the buffet, I need to get a second stomach.

The Pirate menu is definitely the weakest of DCL. We purposely did Remy on Pirate night as my husband still remembers pretty much being served a banana in a tortilla and thinking since when is that food.

We are going to do Remy for both dinner and Brunch on our next cruise (which is on the Dream). I can’t believe that they served a banana in a tortilla! That’s not even desert, it’s just disgusting!

All caught up! Sorry the Grand Cayman day was a washout. That's a bummer. But at least it ended with a spa treatment, so it can't be all bad, right?

Yeah, we had that going for us. The turtle farm was actually pretty cool. If we find ourselves back in Grand Cayman, we might just go back there and take a taxi, if it’s not a Sunday (which is a mistake we won’t repeat), we’ll check out the town as well.

Love the pirate costumes! You guys went all out.

I figured if we were going to do it, we had to do it right! :thumbsup2

We missed out on the pirate party when we did the cruise, so it's always nice to see the photos and check out what it was like.

It was a lot of dance music, from the 50s through what I imagine is the ot’s. I fell out of following popular music somewhere in the 80’s, but know a few from the 90’s and the ot’s, just because you can’t get away from it. I knew quite a few tunes, since Baby Boomers and whatever you call the next generation (I fall in between the Boomers and the next one) are generally the target audience of DCL.

Very nice pirate outfits that night. The Pirate Buffet looks very interesting and appetizing. The party deck looks nice and also very busy. The fireworks pictures look great.

Thanks Bret!

Someday!

I didn’t know about the Pirate buffet until Pam and Jenny mentioned it, and every other cruise we’ve been too full from Palo. I’ll have to figure that out for our next cruise.

The MDR pirate night menus don't look appealing so I totally understand about going to palo (I'm sure that's what we did last time!). Glad you got to experience it!

While the Dining Room was fun with the servers and dressing up, the food definitely wasn’t up to par.

By the way, I want to take advantage of the rainforest room. When we are able to splurge in the future, I'd love to do the couples massage. Seen it on previous TR's & they look amazing!

Can't wait to year more about your adventures!

I haven’t done the Rainforest Room since my first Cruise on the Wonder in 2001., back then it was included with spa treatments, now it’s a separate booking.

You and Fran look fabulous in your pirate gear! pirate:

Thanks! I figured if we were going to do it, I wanted to look good!

With rumors that Pirate night might become Star Wars night, I wanted to experience it at least once.

OH.MY.GOODNESS you two are just darling. You look so amazing and Fran looks like a picture of health. It is so good to see the two of you having so much fun.

I am loving this trip report. Just love it!!

Thank you Ellen! I know she looks great! Too bad it doesn’t last too much longer. :sad2:

Thanks! The other menus are much better than pirate night, our next cruise will be strange as it is only a 4 night on the Dream and I want to fit in Remy Dinner and the Champagne Lunch.

Your costumes are GREAT!

What happened in Lake Tahoe??

Thanks!

It was just a freak incident. I was there with friends, we were all single, and at midnight we went out onto the "strip" (which is only like a two lane or maybe one lane each way road) at midnight. We were holding hands to stay together and I was last in the chain. I had a drink in a plastic cup in my hands and the crowds were so thick that at some point my hands separated from my friend's and my drink was crushed against me because the crowds were so dense. Somehow my feet left the ground and I was just being carried by the crowds. It was only for a few seconds, at least I think so, but it was scary, I totally knew how people got trampled because I wasn't controlling where I went at all. Eventually my friends and I all met up again, but I decided that never again was I putting myself in a situation where I would be in a such a big crowd that I could ever be carried off my feet!

I totally agree with you about the menus for Pirate Night. They just seemed off to me on our very first cruise, so we skipped it the next cruise for Palo.

I remember reading your menus for your first cruise and thinking, that I didn't like anything on them, and that's why we kept going to Palo. I finally decided that I had to at least try it before swearing it off forever!

Love the costumes, you two look great! :thumbsup2 Glad you got to experience Pirate Night at least once. Weren't those crepes to die for? :lovestruc

Thanks on the pirate costumes! Actually I made crepes myself for quite sometime and my crepes are much better than the DCL ones! Like your Michael and risotto, I do a pretty awesome crepe! But their's weren't bad. And I'm glad we did Pirate night at least once.

I hope you do finish your report, even if you just tell us about the crazies and how you and Josh got home. Pam kind of told us how the CC day went.

Love love love the photos! Your outfits are great! The pirate night is fun but the menu needs to walk the plank. I vote for normal dining that night with the food but keep the pirate theme. Palo def but nice that you hit the buffet I didn't know they did that. The crepes look beyond yummy.

Looks like a great evening nice photos of fireworks!

I didn't know monkeys freaked you out until recently. We did have a good night!

Ch, Ch, Ch, Ch, Ch, Changes…..

After our late night, we woke up after the sunrise. I was still able to catch some photos of the morning rays shining through the clouds.

So if you’ve been checking the first post before reading each day’s updates, you’ll know that on this day we were planning on catching a cab to Chankanaab to spend the day there. However, sometime during the day before, we decided that we would be better off to do our laundry on this day and just worry about making our duty free purchases. So with this in mind, we decided to just head out into town near the port and do our shopping, and then later in the afternoon, do our laundry.

But first, today’s Navigator.

We did stick with part of the plan and headed up to Beach Blanket Buffet for breakfast.

As far as buffets go, there are quite a few good things on offer here.

This was my breakfast.

Here’s Fran.

One of the main reasons that I came here, was because you can order eggs over easy from the omelet station.

[Continued from Previous Post]

All ashore wasn’t until 9:45AM so we were pulling into the port after breakfast and I took a few shots from our verandah. Here we are pulling into Cozumel.

Once we were cleared for debarking we headed down to deck 1, but could not resist stopping for a photo op with Captain Mickey!

Then we walked off the ship and onto the dock.

We thought our ship was a lot prettier than the one next door.

Ooh! Changes. Looking forward to seeing how the day worked out.

I see you got the compartmentalized tray to keep all your food from touching each other. :thumbsup2

Nice pictures of the sun rays.
Love the shots with Captain Mickey.

Very nice pictures of the sunrise from your deck.

A nice selection of breakfast food at Beach Blanket Buffet.

Great photo with Captain Mickey.

I haven’t done the Rainforest Room since my first Cruise on the Wonder in 2001., back then it was included with spa treatments, now it’s a separate booking.

Thanks! The other menus are much better than pirate night, our next cruise will be strange as it is only a 4 night on the Dream and I want to fit in Remy Dinner and the Champagne Lunch.

You may want to give the Rainforest Room another go when you are on the Dream. I have not bothered with the Rainforest Room on the Magic and the Wonder since our West Coast repo in 2013, but I am planning to get a pass if we do end up on the Dream next year.

I hear you about the 4 nighter on the Dream. I really want to experience all 3 dining rooms so that leaves me with Pirate Night. I would quite like to try Remy, but then we would miss out on our free Palo dinner. Maybe brunch at Remy is the way to go. I read a review were somebody was able to get an alternative dish to seafood. The trouble is that on the cruise we are eyeing, we have our sea day first so I don't have an option to go and see them as soon as we get on the ship and cancel if I don't think this will work as we will already be inside the 24 hour period.

You have an excellent taste in purses ;) What a shame that you did not make it to Chankanaab. I was so looking forward to see what you made of it. The Norwegian Jewel is definitely not a pretty ship from the outside, but if she is anything like her sister ship Norwegian Jade, she will be lovely on the inside.

Good idea with change of plans. The cruise buffet breakfast is great. Nice touch those eggs are cooked to order so stewing under a heat lamp!

I love the photos with Mickey. Lovely sunrise too.

We always look at Ships next to us. So far we haven't seen one that we would trade places with. We are happy with our choice :-)

Hope Fran if she is starting her meds now is ok.

I loved your pirate costumes. You two really looked great! I have never managed to put pirate costumes together for us, but we do enjoy seeing people who really go all out like you did. They always look like they're having a lot or fun. pirate:

We also have never really eaten at the pirate buffet. Like you, we do late dinner and I'm always too full. Maybe one of these days we'll manage to save room.

I hope by now Fran has managed to get started on a new arthritis medication, and that it will work for her. I have my own battles with arthritis, but mine are nothing like what Fran seems to be dealing with. I can only imagine how bad she must feel. She is really lucky to have you in her life. :grouphug:

I'm glad that the island tour finally got underway. But that island really was closed for business for the day!

Having just returned from Disney World and feeling like I ate until I was going to bust, I can only imagine how a cruise would be! The Pirates buffet and the breakfast buffet both look pretty incredible.

I really like the picture at the end of the last update, looking up from between the 2 ships. Gives you a little perspective of how massive they are.

Oh, those pictures with the sun coming through the clouds are beautiful!!!

Love the Mickey picture too :thumbsup2
