Woman May Have Bitten Husband to Death?

MODESTO, Calif. (Reuters) - A California woman who allegedly flew into a rage and bit her husband repeatedly after he refused to have sex with her is being held on charges that police say may eventually include murder.
Modesto police said that Kelli Pratt, 45, attacked her 65-year-old husband Arthur on Oct. 7, holding him down and biting him some 20 times after a dispute over sex.

"Most of the bites were confined to his arm and his abdomen and a few were very deep with major tissue damage," Sgt. Al Carter of the Modesto police told a television news reporter Thursday.

The Modesto Bee newspaper reported that Arthur Pratt, whose skin was covered with more than 20 deep tooth marks, died Sunday at a local hospital and that the local forensic pathologist believes the bites are the likely cause of death.

"He (the husband) was able to dial 911 (emergency) that night," Carter told the newspaper. "We have a tape recording of him screaming while she was biting him. When officers arrived, he was screaming that he'd been assaulted. She fought with the officers and tried to bite them, too."

Arthur Pratt had a history of medical problems including diabetes, heart and circulation problems. An official ruling on the possible homicide charge is awaiting toxicology tests, which could determine whether the bites caused an infection that proved fatal, the Bee said.

Carter said police were already persuaded that "his death was a direct result of being bitten."

"I've seen cases where dogs have bitten kids, and blood loss or infection led to death," Carter said. "I've never heard of anyone being bitten to death (by a human) before."

Kelli Pratt is currently being held in Modesto, about 90 miles east of San Francisco, on charges of elder abuse, domestic violence and assault on a police officer.

I could not believe this story when I read it. She is really crazy.

I saw this yesteday, I agree. She sure didn't like being told "no" did she.

I saw this story too, PRINCESS Ariel34.

I can't WAIT to read EROS' comments . . .

Well since this has happened in my neck of the woods, I will tell you what I know. The local news channel had a "exclusive " interview with her. First off the woman has no memory of what happened, although when the police arrested her she confessed to what she did and then she tried to bite the police. She says she has cerebal palsy, but the police think it is more of the muscular dystrophy nature, she is confined to a wheel chair. The man was in the hospital for a number of days before dying from a heart attack which the coroner says it is due to the bite injuries. She is now being charged with murder, but I am not sure on what degree.

Actually, a human bite can be very infectious. It wouldn't surprise me if he died of sepsis(overwhelming infection)as a result of being bitten so many times, especially with a history of diabetes, which makes you more susceptible to getting infections and less able to fend them off.

People are just getting weirder and weirder. The poor man. :(

This is so gross...I just can't believe anyone would do such a thing. What a horrible thing for that man to have gone through. Sad ....

Agreeing with MinnieandMickey.. our news reports showed her interviews also. It was reported here that she has MS.. from her physical presence it seemed fairly advanced. She seemed thin and frail also (good set of choppers tho) Her husband was 65 so there were conflicting reports that she may be charged with elder abuse also.....I am questioning what type of medication she may currently be taking. In interviews she says " I must have snapped, I don't remember anything at all" Police reports must be different. I will say one thing... she will probably receive better medical care in the prison system than it seems she was receiving at home. JMHO

I think they were just trying to come up some explanation to this, whether reasonable or not.

Um, this story doesn't quite add up. If the woman's illness is so debilitating that she is confined to a wheelchair then how come the man could not escape from all this biting? After one bite you'd think he'd be out of there.

What is wrong with people??? This is crazy!

This just doesn't add up. Was she perhaps the one being abused and she really did just snap? Was she trying to get sex or trying to deny it? This just doesn't add up..... But weird nonetheless!!

 I can hear the prison taunts she'll receive from this. If she goes to prison, that is. I bet she'll go to a psyche ward somewhere and will be out in less than a year.

ah ... that is to say you are not sexually frustrated... correct T?;)

Maybe he was the one trying to get sex and she was fighting him off. That makes a little more sense to me.
