Shark's Underwater Grill

Hi,

We tried to dine there on Friday....
Though this restaurant is pretty much resort pricing and kinda high we were gonna dine there on Friday anyway, but they were already sold out for the day at 1pm. My advice, if you want to dine at a sit down location at Seaworld like this restuarant go online to the Sea World website and pre-book online. You probably already knew this information, but just incase I'd throw it out there. I had no clue...
Maybe someone else will post there experince there as I am still curious for our next trip since we are now season passholders. :)

We didn't enjoy the food at all. It was just not good and the prices were really high. The view of the sharks, however, was just awesome! I wouldn't eat a meal there again, maybe dessert?

I did not know that you could book ahead of time. During our second day at SeaWorld, June 8th, we decided we would try the restaurant. We went to the reservation desk (right outside the restaurant) right at 10:00 and had no problem getting a 12:30 lunch reservation.

I was actually very please with the food. Here are some pictures:

Some type of herb bread, with dipping oil with coarse salt and pepper:

Dh and I each ordered a salad ($5 each)

Citrus Caesar Salad:

Spinach Salad

Then, we split the Chicken and Shrimp BBQ - delicious ($23 I think). The chicken breast was partially deboned. Also, I like my veggies with some crunch to them, but these were just a little TOO undercooked:

The kids each ordered a meal (we knew dh would eat their leftovers). Each came with a gummy shark.

Pasta ordered with sauce on the side:

Hot dog:

Chicken fingers (shaped like sharks, of course):

All in all, a very good meal. The waitress had no problem at all with us sharing a meal. She brought out plain crackers for my daughter who did not like the herb bread. She offered to fill up our refillable mug with Pepsi before we left the restaurant (we declined, but thought it was nice that she offered - not sure if she would have charged us the $1.49 for the refill).

It was so nice to get in out of the heat. Every seat is good, because the restaurant seating is terraced. I think there were some tables, but mostly there were nice big booths where you pretty much all faced the shark tank (you know, with one entire side of the booth open). I tried to take pictures of the shark tank, but they didn't come out.

It's my understanding that Sharks could not be booked online. We had to go day of visit in the morning and book your time. Did things change or am I incorrect? Anyway, Atmosphere was great, waiter was stuffy kids meals just ok, my ds salmon was great but very pricey.

Does anyone remember the cost of their entree?
(I'm trying to figure out how pricey...)

Entree's over $20/ea?

Overall is it worth it for the atmostphere and the view?

TIA :goodvibes !!!

Many of the entrees are $23 to $25 as I recall. It's all good food. I had a filet mignon when I went. It was very good. There is a complete menu available at the tour counter at the front of the park, if you care to look at it before you decide to go and book at the Grill. I'd say it's a cut above most theme park fare and it is worth it, at least one time. Be prepared to be at the restaurant by 10 am to make your res. because they can't do it for you at the tour counter.

I've heard that too. Here's what the web site says however:
"Guests wanting to make seating arrangements to Shark's Underwater Grill can do so by visiting the host/hostess stand in front of the restaurant on the day of their visit."

We love it here. It is pricey, but the experience is great. Try to ask for a table by the tank and you will get great views and pics. Our two boys were mesmerized by the sharks and were so well behaved during our lunch there. That was worth the hefty price tag. The food, service and ambiance can't be beat!

Can anyone tell me a comparison from this to the one similiar in EPCOT?
