Is it okay to be frank about sharing a meal? I thought if perhaps we'd snacked a bit during the day and although we fancied a meal, perhaps maybe half with a dessert each. Would we order and just say "to share". Would we then be given the meal on one plate and be able to share or would all this cause problems. I would expect to leave a tip equivalent to 2 meals.

We share meals often at WDW and it has never been a probelm. Just tell them you are splitting the meal. They will devide it in the kitchen and bring it out on 2 plates.

We were afraid to ask this at first when we did ask we were surprised two plates and sometimes cut in half for us. Of course a nice tip we left and a big thank you.

My Mom and I have split meals. Most of the time they bring it out on one plate and give us an empty plate to split it ourselves.

We also always share meals because it enables us to try more things on the menu. We each get an appetizer then split a meal an split a dessert. That way we each get to sample.

we share all the time...at parks and resorts - no one seems to mind. Let them know if you want them to split it in the kitchen or at your table.
The portions are huge...We'd rather share than see food go to waste.
PLUS...you'll always have room for dessert.
