I know there are so many reasons we love this place and I thought I would start a thread to share some of the Magical Moments that Disney has created that really went "above and beyond" and made us love it as much as we do. Here's the story and my father was telling it until he passed away even 30 years after it happened!
We were staying at The Contemporary Resort. My mom, dad, 2 brothers (ages 7 and 8) and me (I was 6 and I am now 42 so this gives you a timeline!!).
We took the ferry over to the MK instead of the monorail. As my father tells it, the kids were excited and we were pratically knocking over each other to got off the ferry and get into the park when I accidentally knocked my brother's arm and his wallet fell into the lagoon! It was one of those velcro plastic wallets with $20US in it so my father wasn't too worried but of course the kids were crying and yelling. The Captain of the ferry saw the comotion and approached my father to see what had happended and when he told the story, the Captain asked if we could wait 5 minutes and he would try to get the wallet. I think my dad agreed out of curiosity to see how they were going to fish out this black wallet from the bottom of the lagoon. Next thing you know, the Captain is on the radio and a boat arrives with a person in SCUBA GEAR (no kidding) and they dive down and retreive the wallet!! They treated this little velcro wallet like as if this was a thousand dollar treasure!
My father told that story over and over again to anyone considering a trip to WDW and we, of course, went every year during March Break through my entire childhood. My dad has since passed and I am so glad to share his story with you!
Let me know if anything Magical has happeded to you at WDW?
