ok so many years ago we were shareholders and we still have the selftrade shares. can someone advise how this works again as i have forgot? i am wondering if it is worth it to us to become a shareholder. we wont be going to dlp again for around 2 years but would it be worth getting the shareholder card for the discount on meals? how much is the shareholders card and what does it entitle us to? TIA :goodvibes

selftrade changed their rules 3 years ago and started charging a yearly admin fee to hold your shares, so most of us who used to have selftrade shares, sold them and bought again with Halifax (who do not charge any admin fee to hold your shares).

If you already hold the 20 shares, its totally worth it to apply for your shareholders card. This is free because you have 20 shares.
If you hold 5 shares or more, but less than 20, you pay 30 euros to join the shareholders club for 2 years. I'd do it, I think its worth it.

Please check your selftrade shares, because of the yearly admin fee you may be better off selling them once you get your shareholders card this time, and re-buying if you still want them, next time you go to DLP, if its more than 2 years away.

thankyou will look into selftrade...there was something recently where they just suddenly took a direct debit for £40 out of our account without any notification and Dh went mad and rang them up and they refunded it and said something about opting out...i dont know how it ended will have to ask DH when he gets home...so worst case scenario we might have to buy more shares....any idea how much 5 and 20 shares would cost through halifax?

Thankyou Elaine. you are an absolute star for posting that! will have to check out whether are shares with selftrade are still valid...i know we def havent sold them and take it from there. can you get the discount in the rainforest and annettes?

Annettes you definitely can, its 15% off the bill. Rainforest Cafe seems to be whichever waiter you get at the time (its not a Disney affiliated hotel, so officially no, no shareholders discount, but I know others here have had the discount at the Rainforest Cafe in DLP).
