Not sure if we'll do it this year, but we usually get some very large boxes from furniture stores, flatten them (if they're not already) and use them to turn our front porch into a castle. We use an old board for a draw bridge that fits over our stairs. In the yard to the side and in front of the castle, we put a grave yard with tombstones made from styrofoam sheets. We sponge paint them (and the castle walls) and then write on them with big black permanent markers. We have a rusted old suit of armor, a couple of flying bats, some black crows, spiders, a cauldron and fog machine, etc to add to it.

You know you're a Disney Freak when the first thing you see in that picture is the Mickey Mouse.

I don't even see Mickey. I'm just trying to not look at that creepy baby in the corner. :scared1:

Think this is a bit much for front yard halloween decorations?

This is an actual house in Toronto:

 It's scary enough thinking about how much work they put into that.. plus, it's creepy!

I love this thread! There are so many great ideas! Sadly I don't have any to share at the moment but if I do, I shall definitley post!

Happy Hauntings! :hmghost:

Mickey is almost in the middle of the picture, to the right and up from Baby Jane.

Ok. I still can't find Waldo, I mean Mickey! Another clue? This is driving me nuts!

I voted 'I don't decorate for Halloween'.....at least not on the outside. No one would ever see it. I do a LOT on the inside of the house though!!

My decorating at home tends to be low key last minute because I work with our zoo events person to decorate Boo at the Zoo. We go for low key, cheap, easy stuff that will give the best effect (more ideas appreciated).

Last year, I picked up a lot of ideas from the the family fun website.

Spooky Jugs were a huge hit
Ring around a ghostie was too

If you do have trails around your house like one person said, we do a spooky trail on on of our nature trails and put in fence posts that have the ends dipped in red paint at various angles (ours are big, so the pointy ends are over people's heads).

We're going to try and add in some Front Yard Franks this year, more ghost rings (those are really creepy).

We live in an apartment so this is about all we can do :) Jack head lights with Oogie Boogie in the window!

This year I started inside (so the neighbors wouldn't think I was crazy,) and I've decided to not move it all outside afterall. It was the greatest idea! The kids love it, so now we get to see it more than the neighbors! I have TONS of big and small pumpkins & ghosts lit up (the soft ones from Terrrget- I love 'em,) and I have pumpkin string lights on the insides of my big and small windows & fabric hanging ghosts. The orange glow from it all looks SO nice inside at night!:thumbsup2 Outside I have the ghosts that you hang from trees on 8 palms. Instead of filling them with paper I put orange ballpit balls in them & they look cool. We also have the spider webs with spiders on our big lights & cute ghost posts stuck in the ground on the sides of our walkway.

I have to hit Target clearance this year. Last year was the first year I skipped it and I missed not having new surprise stuff (I usually forget about my clearance purchases) when I brought in the decorations this year.:sad1:

I have to hit Target clearance this year.

I am planning on hitting it as well. I am having a Halloween sleepover on the 1st so I want to get some additional things. I plan to be there at its open (8:00 a.m.) :lmao:

I have fall decorations that I made. They are currently sitting in my house, but I will put them outside in the next couple of days. Here is a picture of one of them. It's just an urn filled with pumpins and fake flowers.

Oh yes we have started decorating - not too much on the outside since it is VERY Red White and Blue for my brother. We did add some pumpkins and things. We don't want to make it too morbid but our backyard is going to be so cool!

And they would look equally beautiful on the outside of the house, I'm sure :)

I love all the ideas and pics - thanks for starting this thread, Ward :thumbsup2

Thought I'd share some Halloween photos I took yesterday and today:

This one I took last night at Greenfield Village's Hallowe'en festival. Every year they have select nights you can go trick or treating (for a fee of course;) ).
