I am planning my very first non WDW trip and am having trouble finding off site deals like you all seem to find.

remember the extra costs - $195 + $20 per week for the home and away, mostly everything else is $295 + $20 per week. always read the ad before bidding. hotels are $32.95 extra per day

Alpharooms.com and Gtahotels.com are two really good sites. I used GTA for a trip to Victoria BC, stayed in an amazingly deluxe hotel called the Fairmont Empress and paid only $119 a night. The earlier you book the better the discount. I also used them and then had to cancel. NO Problem...my money was refunded promptly.

skyauction.com
priceline.com (checking on bid rates and hotels on betterbidding.com)
and redweek.com for a condo (2 bedroom)

Give them a try!

Would someone explain skyauction for me. I know its bidding, but can they really rent the rooms for that cheap. Is there a catch?

the catch is in the condo - these are RCI extra inventory - so doesn't cost them anything.
'
same with condodirect - except these are II and it does listen to its condo owners - so you won't find any Marriott there.

that say sometimes you can catch one with skyauction - they just can't say the same Marriott.

the hotels only list the rooms that they are having trouble renting.

We have used hotelmartusa.com three times and had really good luck. We had booked Fantasy World Villas and because of a maintenance issue they had to move us to another property. They moved us to a superior property and upgraded us from a 2 bedroom town home to a four bedroom home in Windsor Palms. We were thrilled! I would highly recommend this site.

Sadly, Skyauction is not what it used to be, they added 200 sur charge for summer to the final bid for summer plus the 195 and the 20 per week this summer. It was a killer and not all that great a deal. They added this sur charge for whatever reason.
